A little bit of fun before a dinner date

For the record, a VP does not fit in a Gibson case or a rectangular Epiphone case. I checked last night. It's about an inch too long for either, so modifying one isn't an option. Once we get the new wiring paid for, I'll be getting a tapered case. That's probably a year from now. I get to play the VP in the basement, though, so all's well.

I tested my VP in the square case that came with the candy apple red Custom Shop Epi and it did not fit. Forgot to post about it. I should test it with the case that came with the Epi NR next time I am getting the cases out.

Can you buy the carcass from the seller at a discount and make a 7enderbird out of it?

That was what I was thinking as well. Or depending on the model, you may be able to find an Epi neck for it.

Had the day off and did some experimenting:

The one on the right was painted with a stencil. The left one is a vinyl decal. I clear coated over both of them. Then I keyed them.
(I didn’t spend much time cleaning up that piece of P pickguard)

Looks good - I'll have to dig out my '64 pg and shoot a pic of it for you.

I finally found an Epiphone Thunderbird on Reverb that was inexpensive and needed some finish and electrical work so I bought it! It arrived yesterday!

Unfortunately the seller doesn't understand how to pack and ship such a long bass, crammed it into what I assume is a standard length box, and it's now ruined. Neck is cracked on both sides of the headstock. Certain death.

In my opinion the act of shipping a musical instrument should be approached with the same care and attention as lovemaking - If it don't fit, DON'T FORCE IT!

Ugh, I feel just sick that another 'Bird bit the dust. I would rather they just removed the neck before shipping. And now I have to wait until FedEx pays his claim to get my money back; not a big deal, just a minor pain...

Not giving up, I'll not be between 'Birds forever.
Somehow the term stupid MF'er comes to mind.

crap (sorry) - every bass I ship is over-packed... it's part of the responsibility of being a 'seller'... the item must arrive 100% unless the shipper (UPS/FedEx/USPS) goes out of their way to damage it. (this too has happened)
