Thunderbird Club

I still have the Cobalt Flats on the '15. They sound good on it at all the various settings. And my fingers love the smooooooooooooooothness of them. But I think I'm going to go with Super Bright nickels pretty soon though, because I really want more Tbirdyness when it's in full humbucker mode. The thing that has kept me from doing it is that the Cobalts were so darn hard to install because of the stiffness at the wraps and the narrow diameter tuning pegs.
Have I said how much I love my 15? My #1

Trying to incite the Princess Fingers Club are you? Sure is a lot of superfluous spelling going on there.;):D

No question about it. That is a beautiful Thunderbird.

@PillO hasn’t posted his baba in a few days. Kinda miss her.
I went back and edited while you must have been typing. It's worth repeating: No doubt about it, that's a beautiful Thunderbird.

I forgot...

My pleasure. Now I’m curious as to which model of thunderbucker you have. I’m still not sold in keeping the stock BaCH pup. It sounds good but not great, and the chrome flats aren’t doing it any favors.

Gotta tell ya, I couldn't et rid of that Artek fast enough when I got my first BaCH - A Lull cured it quickly.

Nope, my Greco IV has stock Greco pups, which I wouldn’t even consider flipping out for something else. But what the test did show is that the thunderbuckers are a more robust sounding pup than the stock BaCH.

That’s the special Gibson 2015 Veronica Tribute Tbird. A few of us here have them, kind of a club within a club thing. ;)

A Veronica tribute, I like the sound of that! :woot:

Beautiful bass.
My favorite rounds on Tbirds so far is Optima Golds followed by Boomers and then Fender 7250. I do like the tapes best on my 2015 since it’s such a different beast, didn’t like cobalts on it at all, sounds like they work good for you though, and that’s what matters.

I guess the '15 just got a name. Vera. It isn't Vreonica, but close enough.

The II has a Thunderbucker? Which one?

It probably might, if you play near-ish the bridge. I play too far forward, usually/mostly just behind the neck pickup.
I play all over the place. I find that a Babicz is perfect for palm muting and getting a dead-end thumpy sound. It is making using a pick a lot of fun for this mostly finger player.

I agree!
The Babicz & the 3-point are best/easiest, for me to do muting with the heel? of my hand, while still giving me a good bit of range & flexibility.

The bridge on the Pro 5 is the worst of all the T-bird bridges, imo :rollno:

If I had a Pro 4, I'd probably dump the bridge for the Babicz fch-3, or just put a 3-point on :bag:

My BaCH II has a stock pup. I’ve considered replacing it with something else. A Thunderbucker is on the short list, but I’m holding off until I do a couple more string changes to see if there’s a string that works well with this pup.
