Nice. I saw them play in 2018, opening for Yo La Tengo. Dallas Good was playing Reid Diamond's Thunderbird.

I remember how stoked I was when I was playing in Austin in the mid-90s and I found Saavy Show Stoppers on CD at Waterloo Records. I could never find any Shadowy Men albums anywhere in South Texas.

I gotta say, everyone I work with only mentions bass when I don’t bring the Gibson. “Where’s the TBird?!”
Had one bass player in an opening band (who was very active on TB) tell me “you must have the only TBird without a headstock repair.” He also asked me how I deal with the neck dive, so I pulled my hands away to show him there was none. He also mentioned the terrible finish on Gibsons of that era. I told him I bought two Gibson ‘Birds off eBay at a great price and on both the fit and finish were perfect. He kept insisting that virtually every other Gibson out there was a wreck and I just got lucky. The guy was so convinced he knew everything about bass gear. When his band played, his tone was boring and his playing was mediocre at best. No point arguing with folks like that.

I have many Gibson treble and bass guitars, I have only seen broken headstocks on the interwebz.

The quicker I identify stoopid peeples the ruder I get. I wouldn’t have let him get past his first statement.

Essentially the same way you tune a Guitarron except the Bass Moron typically only has 4 strings to deal with.

The M4 90 (Light) seem like they'd work, other than maybe being a little wide, as you mentioned. They also don't seem to be easy to find in the US, and shipping from Germany is ridiculously expensive. Lastly, the M4S I have on my BC Rich I don't love the feel of.

That's too bad about the shipping, I got my tuners (DaVinci) and all my strap lock sets from them, shipping wasn't bad at that time. But everything's going up....

It gets complicated and each one is different. But you shoot for an equal amount of suboptimal outcome across the board, and just like that, you're done!

Ran across this from Julian Crampton from the UK. Great player. First ran across him playing with Acoustic Alchemy and loved his playing, even his Jbass tone with them. His solos are really tasteful and interesting. He's doing a song here. Saddly no Thunderbird action. Maybe one day he'll see the light.

all I had to do with drummer schmoe was show him the bass construction and compare ít to the cheap P bass construction sitting right next to it and say “you can’t beat all mahogany construction and humbuckers, wait till you hear it” at this time, I had his full attention and the rest of course is history….
