Unless Southpaw Guitars kept the stuff from my 2013, it's neat that the 2018 has the velour pouch with the documents, including a photo of the Thunderbird on a bench at Gibson. Not sure if it came with it from the factory, but my used one came with the cool little Gibson-branded multi-tool.

What I wouldn't give to see Milla Jovovich holding it and saying, "Multi-tool."

I think I like Mike's solution better, although it doesn't list metal. And my cat's urine just shows up as a clumped ball in the litter box. Maybe I'll leave the nickel hardware in the litter box where she tends to pee.

Yep. On the originals and accurate recreations, the large U shaped magnets surround the strings and also enclose the coil, bobbin and pole pieces. On the Rickenbacker Reissue, they are merely cosmetic, not being magnetized and simply surrounding what is more or less a modified hi-gain pickup.



Won't know for a little while, it's currently in Japan. Waiting for it to arrive to the warehouse to get shipped stateside.



I came upon a website called Jauce.com, from a recommendation of someone here on TB on where to look for lawsuits. They act as brokers for Japanese auctions (Yahoo Auctions, primarily), and then send your purchases over seas. It's my first time using them but everything is smooth sailing thus far, and the prices are reasonable.



I believe this one has been modded out with an aftermarket Horseshoe, possibly one of the newer ones from Argentina that have been cropping up.

Nice score! Looking forward to hearing your impressions once you get it in hand.

Cat urine works pretty well.....don't ask.

Whoever owned my VP before me certainly was good at aging metal parts. The polyurethane is completely unblemished except where the bass appears to have been dropped. So, there you have it. Some things age, some don't.

Yes remove the parts from the bass! To age the covers put about half a inch of muratic acid in a Tupperware tub then put a smaller open tub with the parts in it inside the tub with the acid and put the top on the larger tub. Check every 8-12 house till the desired results. Muratic acid is nasty stuff store it away from metal, best stored outside in the garage or shed. Even with the cap on tight it attacks whatever is around it. Muratic acid is highly corrosive use PPE goggles, gloves, cartridge respirator. Better yet forget I mentioned it.
