The 914 was originally supposed to be offered by both Porsche and VW but at least here in the states VW backed out of the deal leaving Porsche to market the 914 as a Porsche. The 924 was always marketed here as a Porsche as well, so I guess neither really superseded the Ghia.

IIRC the Scirocco came out the year the Ghia was discontinued (1974ish) as their only sporty car so that might actually be what took it's place.

I've a distinct-ish idea.

The main problem with the Pro series, according to most people, was the pre-amp, followed by the pickups.
So, I'm planning a better pre-amp (not 100% sure which, but I know what I would prefer), and a set of EMG X-series pickups, possibly a 35csx for the neck, and 35dcx for the bridge.

Probably same tuners & bridge that I have on my "Whitebird".



At least, that's where I'm at right now. Subject to change, of course! :smug:

The Spector trim pot Tone Pump and the Spector Haz clone both play very well with EMG pups. You might consider jumping over to the Spector club to see what they think pairs well with EMG-X pups.

Indeed! All are very cool (well there was that Yugo thing), but were never of interest to me. Even owned a Fiat once. Wasn't one of the more cool offerings. Looked like a less nice looking VW Rabbit. But with a 5 speed and whatever was in it, it was snappy. I paid $90 and used it as a hatchback truck while working construction for a while.

Very nice, I do like that song. In 72 Chuck would have already been an "oldie".
Very noticeable that when Chuck wanders off playing his little solos (the 2nd lot anyway) the drummer only has eye for him. I imagine he is mentally reciting "Just watch Chuck"
