In 64 or 65, Dad bought a thoroughly used Renault that somewhat resembled the Beetle. He paid $99, IIRC. Super basic, ran fine, plus holes in the floor. The latter turned out to be handy in El Paso flash floods, while he got home wet, he could at least keep driving when everyone else found high ground to park or floated away.

Seriously, I used to be a regular in the Spector club, but after a while it became pretty predictable. At pretty much any given time you could pop over there and the topic of discussion 90% of the time was - which preamp are you dropping in your Spector today. Many Spectors come with EMG pups, so you're bound to get some insightful advice on pairing a preamp with specific EMG pups. Great group of folks there but not openly as multi dimensional as the cast of characters you find here. Oh, and the Spector porn is to die for if you like fancy wood grain and top notch finishes, kinda the PRS of the bass world.

I've been lurking over there for a bit, but not super into the fancy wood tops & such very much. Those guys would prolly hate me if I ever actually bought a Spector, I'd have it painted a nice, solid, metallic red

Can't say I've ever played that song, but do like it. I'd be concerned with getting a left hand cramp on that one. I can only play the same few notes over and over for so long before I start looking for different fingering to keep the hand from locking up.We do this one. I have trouble with the changes. All bofum.

An awesome performance! Love so many things about it including the black gen1 T-bird (with both covers!), orange capped drivers (what kind of amps were these?) and the groovin' mellow vibe of everyones playing. Looked like CB was very relaxed and comfortable playing with French players.

When I played with Eddie Taylor (blues band) in Chicago in the late '70s/early '80s - I had to constantly watch Eddies left hand to cue where each song went. Although blues is a very predictable structured system, that never stopped Eddie and original blues artists like him from "wandering" from those 8 bars to whatever rhythmic pattern/time signature they felt at that moment.

Yes it's a 71. It's been a garage queen for decades as other parts of life took priority.
It was murder the first summer. Heat was stuck ON! You can imagine getting finished working construction all day and getting to ride home in a hot-er car. Money was tight so it didn't get fixed right away. I was young and tough then. Now I'm older and dumber--it seems at times.....$90! Did you haggle that down from $100?
