Thunderbird Club

I have only played through an 810 a few times. Once a fridge with an SVT 450 SS. That was underwhelming.
The other time was with my PF50T. I’d get one if I had the room.
I've played through them before, not an Accoustic's. I should have been more clear. But that 810 was a new one for me. I like more speakers in a cab. My current favorite cab is my Ampeg Heritage 410. Fortunately it doesn't sound like most of their 410s. Doesn't punch like a fridge, but sounds full and big. Many single cabs sound great--I like my Fender 115 with an Eminence, but there's just something about more than one speaker that just sounds bigger and to my liking.

GKs sound great through them, but I think that's more the GK than the Ampeg. I have yet to find a cab they don't sound good through.
I've really liked the few GK heads I've played and almost bought one more than once. Really like the Fusion, but several heads are tempting. But haven't liked the the GK cabs I've played through with various heads. But I've not had a lot of time to dial things in. Like some Ampeg cabs, there was an odd (to me) mid honkish thing that just wasn't me. Maybe it like with Ampeg--I typically like their amps more than the cabs.

View attachment 4403777 Ok so strings are on and she is tuned up, still have to adjust the pickup hight. Cleaned the fretboard real good, polished up the frets bridge is on and put on a set of D addario nickle wounds(these might be short lived), its picture time

Double Czech - Jolana DiscoBass & Kolorbass -

Just completed renovating. I linked to the last page - you can go back as much as you want... kinda' T-bird/Gibson RD related and certainly has some vintage growl from the two buckers positioning.

I needed those on one bss and they sent them gratis, pronto. I had asked about price, expecting to pay.
I just called Hipshot. A nice guy answered, looked up my account and said he'll send a set of shorter screws gratis so there won't be an intonation issue with different strings. Took two minutes. Great customer service. That will make the bridge a lot more versitle now.

I threw a little titebond in there, gave it about three hours and put the strings on. I don't like CNA for that either.
Yep. If you need to remove them in the future something like Titebond is the safe way to go. Just need to be really patient letting it cure completely before adding tension.

I got a chance to try out the Lowrider strings on my Thunderbird. I’m definitely liking the sound so far, and they seem to have slightly less tension than the strings that were on the bass when I bought it. They definitely add a little brightness to the tone, as well.

I’m also rethinking my original plan to swap the knobs over to gold Speed Knobs. Instead, I think I’m going to change them over to gold Reflector Knobs. I think the gold will compliment the Heritage Red finish better than black, and the bass should have a reflector-style knob to stay in line with the Thunderbird aesthetic. Thoughts?

What color is the hardware on that bass?
Since it's sorted out shall I add you to the club?
