Thunderbird Club

Wonderful weather (as is almost always the case) in Malibu at one of the beaches. Always interesting to see what photo shoot and which celebs are working the beach that day. Today was packed with Lambo, Bentley, Ferrari, McClaren and Porsche cars all kitted up with cameras…

They had a water truck hosing down the street for effect and at one point the fire hydrant hose got out of hand whipping through the air and drenching everything in site. The guy in the Bentley nearly got hosed and wasn’t happy…

Fortunately no THUNDERBIRDS were in harms way.

That's what he gets for driving a modern faux Bentley instead of a proper Bentley. If he *must* drive such a thing, he should carry a Thunderbird with him at all times to ward off bad weather and allow him to ride the lightning.

One of my favorite albums as a kid. I was the only kid/person I knew who had one of his records. The cover was interesting as a young boy as well. Years later I realized there was a plane.

We had several of their albums. I almost quit trombone trying to learn some of their songs in 6th grade; they were above my then ability. There's still a special place in my hear for some of their songs (La Cucaracha is way up there).

True. We did get some requests for tangos. I'm the only one in the band with tango playing experience. Good ol' Fakebook one to the rescue.
You should surprise them next time with this :)
Eppu Normaali was one of the most popular Finnish bands in ”the good old days”, and they are still active today.
This song is an old one called Pimeyden Tango -> Tango In The Darkness, or something like that.

We had Phantoms on the Enterprise. LOUD!

The F15 Eagles that used to go vertical 100 yards or so above a rooftop where I worked were loud, too - especially when we were on the roof to watch. Looking into those little suns, battered by the roar and some heat, was a pretty awesome feeling.

Awesome! Upright bass in '80s pop! (and not Stray Cats retro or Sting "contemporary adult") Wouldn't know if only listening...

Why do they keep saluting? (most likely related to the song...)

I just missed Thunderbird Thursday :(

I blame my cat :banghead:

....and the new video from The Warning :bassist:.....

But!
This pic was taken while it was still Thursday, so that counts, right?! :cautious::unsure::bag:

A beautiful early Autumn day here, a very pleasant 66 degrees, metallic burnt orange seems right for the season. Happy Thursday!

As I was taking this shot I heard the different sound of a passing aircraft (I live near SeaTac airport), I don't often look at the planes as they pass by, but a different sound will cause me to pay attention........Anywho, if you closely you'll see a C-130 in the pattern for the 3rd runway, highly unusual for military aircraft to frequent the field.

There's a Perry Como ditty running thru my head today................

Darn you! Darn you all to heck! You have now branded the Pumpkin Spice Thunderbird!

Having been a passenger on a C130 many times (including a trans-atlantic flight) I can say with confidence - any journey can be made to seem much much longer by doing it on a Hercules.

TBH, any drone for that long is awful. Flying that long without a laptop and cellphone filled with movies and music sucked but digital media has changed all that thankfully.
No laptop, no cell. Knees 6" from the wheel of a truck.

You can fly, in order of luxury, first class, business class, economy class, or military.

<edit> so not quite as comfortable as Spirit.
