Thunderbird Club

Looks like a great time. Is that you playing the Jazz? Nice looking bass, but I’m used to seeing you with the cool vintage non mainstream brand basses.

Hah! I didn't realize I could look like a short white-haired Austrian woman by wearing a Janet dress from the RHPS! No.., not me! She is Zoe, the bass player with the Sunnyside 5 and usually plays a matte-black Ric.

I have been known to play my '66 J with Bond Girl though... (costumes were a regular part of BG) ;)

The set we got for my daughter for high school music are in the upstairs rumpus room. DW I think.
I’m going to keep them if she doesn’t do something with them :)
She doesn’t play them that’s for sure

Drums are like that - either they are played... or not. (rumpus room - one of my favorite phrases!)

I have no one to blame but myself but my PR410 cabinet is 128lbs, wheels but no towel rack... AND the SVT6 pro I got to pair with it is 41lbs AND I got a heavy duty rack to mount it in so whatever that weighs...

I mostly got the rig in case I get a roadie I hate.

AND i'm going to look at a yorkville 8x8 this week.... 113lbs.... probably pair that with my 9.2 Genz-Benz 7lbs.... or the PF50-T
Head, 7 lbs. Cab 55 lbs. Tone, magnificent. Quit killing yourself.

I do have the Genz-Benz head at 7lbs and the Ampeg pf50t head at 20lbs

the pf50t is on the flip top of a 210 cab at 48lbs and would cover most of my gigging needs.

the other Ampeg 410 I have is 74lbs and I wish it was a flip top.

left to right

Genz-Benz shuttlmax 9.2 and Ampeg pf410hlf, Ampeg svt6pro and pr410hlf, Ampeg pf50t and pf210he

not pictured is an svt210av cab that’s just 26lbs, I had two of these but I traded one off to seal a trade deal, kinda wish I still had it.

You do look dashing in formal wear, every bit the part of a Bond set.

Major Valerian said he could hear you from the City of a Thousand Planets.
One is an original from 1968 and one is a Grexa reissue. I have never cranked either one much, let alone run them both at the same time. Knowing that I could do that is fun, though.

Most of what I do is covered by a Carvin combo that weighs 30 lbs and an extension cabinet that weighs another 30 lbs. Give or take. Thunderbirds sound great through any of those amps. Nothing sounds that good through the ACC 126 that I leave over where the cover band practices. Not everything can be great.

I did a count in my head and I have a total of 16 10" speakers available, so I really, really don't NEED anything else... I don't NEED the 8x8 cab either, and I keep thinking I'm shouldn't get it....

I also have a 410 Ampeg combo... it's on the lower left of the pic...

Interesting.

I'm currently reading through The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer. Fascinating and informative. He was a American journalist and war correspondent who lived in Germany and a few other locations before during this time. It's interesting to hear a guy talking about having coffee someplace and see Hitler walk by and be able to describe his demeanor in that and other close and personal and encounters. It's a 1700+ page book, but virtually every page is good. I'm 2/3 of the way finished and haven't been tempted to skip any of it yet. He went through a lot of personal information and diaries and other documents first hand at the time.
I read it when I was in high school. Took all summer and that’s when the summer break was a full three months.

I used to read 3-4 books a week.

I tried to get into those kindle things, but I just couldn't do it.

I bought my first real book in many years recently, but I just haven't dug into it yet...

I got "The King in yellow" Robert Chambers, it might just be another Steven King pen name....
I’ve been reading a lot of books on iPads. I guess I’ve gotten used to it. And it’s always with me. Last paper book I bought was the wonderful Gibson Bass Book. The pictures in it are gorgeous. Pure bass porn.

I read quite a long time ago.........I think it's downstairs. Might have to re-read it.
One of the most interesting historical books I've read since I don't know win. One of my main interests in that time-frame is what caused people to think that way and do what they did and how did normal people react and so forth and so on, both on an individual and national level. It really helps you see the personal side or human aspect of some of the things that went on. Really does a good job of explaining what happened and lets the thoughtful reader draw their own conclusions about why. Kind of like what journalism is supposed to be and used to be. What are you and noticing toward the end is that Hitler used everybody. The goal was not about a greater Germany at all but a greater Hitler ego. Once he knew that couldn't be satisfied he didn't give a flip about the people he claimed to care for and speak for. It was really all about him from the beginning. He was in crazy lying corporal from Austria who was clever enough to manipulate people because he was charismatic and a great speaker. That part is scary!

I would highly recommend this book, fascinating read.
