Thunderbird Club

anybody see this?….not bad…Battle of the Scheldt….who knew?..

Interesting.

I'm currently reading through The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich by William Shirer. Fascinating and informative. He was a American journalist and war correspondent who lived in Germany and a few other locations before during this time. It's interesting to hear a guy talking about having coffee someplace and see Hitler walk by and be able to describe his demeanor in that and other close and personal and encounters. It's a 1700+ page book, but virtually every page is good. I'm 2/3 of the way finished and haven't been tempted to skip any of it yet. He went through a lot of personal information and diaries and other documents first hand at the time.

Curse you Long & McQuade!

Just got back from the kiddo's drum lesson. In my random wanderings around the store, I saw a used acoustic drum kit in good shape for $125. Asked why it was so cheap - it is a brand they don't usually carry, so it is priced to move and sold as is. Put a deposit on it to have a think on it.

Also offered a 7ender 212 guitar cab for $300. Very clean. It is $100 over the price point I was looking for.

And my Thunderbird still hasn't arrived...
Interesting on the kit. At that price it would tend toward absolute junk (which you would have noticed) or a great buy it seems. No things I've seen at that price aren't worth driving to go get in driving home with.

Costume time! So far Eddy hasn’t been reacting to fireworks/explosions. Which is surprising, considering how sensitive he is to vehicle noises.

Pippa is completely deaf, so loud bangs are not an issue.

Yeah, it isn't junk (L&M wouldn't take it if it were). It has the look of having sat in someone's basement unused for a while.

Drums! I have a friend that builds (and sells) solid wood drums. He restored my 60’s Raven kit. (Well, I’m “storing it” for a high school friend)
One of the key factors in a drum is the bearing edge. It needs to be in a flat plane so the head makes even contact. If the geometry is good and you put on decent heads, they will sound good.

The drummer in the Sunnyside 5 (pic above) had an interesting vintage Fibes drum-set with chrome skins. Never seen that before. Billy Cobham and (briefly) John Bonham rocked Fibes clear lucite drums in the '70s. Our drummer Steve said they are uncontrollably loud.

I read quite a long time ago.........I think it's downstairs. Might have to re-read it.

Bond Girl Cherie as Frank N. Furter singing the RHPS classic "Sweet Transvestite" yesterday during a mid-day outdoor Halloween show at Winters Tavern Pacifica. The band (mostly in theme costumes) nailed it! :bassist:

Looks like a great time. Is that you playing the Jazz? Nice looking bass, but I’m used to seeing you with the cool vintage non mainstream brand basses.

I have no one to blame but myself but my PR410 cabinet is 128lbs, wheels but no towel rack... AND the SVT6 pro I got to pair with it is 41lbs AND I got a heavy duty rack to mount it in so whatever that weighs...

I mostly got the rig in case I get a roadie I hate.

AND i'm going to look at a yorkville 8x8 this week.... 113lbs.... probably pair that with my 9.2 Genz-Benz 7lbs.... or the PF50-T
I like your style. An Acoustic Control 361 cabinet weighs around 135 lbs. And I have two of 'em. Just in case the moon needs to hear it.

I play cheap '60s and '70s stencil kits. Set up right, they have their own sound. I like it.
