The wide variety of styles of songs we choose are really well written mostly pop songs and our version/delivery of them is paramount. A lot of people hearing our set may not be familiar with a certain song but as long as it's performed well they enjoy it. It's kind of like these "first time hearing" vids - a good song is a good song and there are many great songs out there to introduce open ears to. We're learning/recording and performing more originals all the time but an ideal set for us is a mix of those songs and the best 'covers' we've honed over the years. Ask Chucky - he's attended our shows! :)

You are right about bass breaks like that. She's Not There has one that I can think of, and there's several others I have know I have played but that I can't think of at the moment. They are all from about the same five year period right around 1970 or a little earlier.

Fireball (Deep Purple) has a short bass break, and a great honking bass line throughout. Same time frame. Roger is so badass. Also, close-ups of Ian Gillan's face in concert from the 1972 timeframe always remind me of Janis.

1972, "WHY" (Bonus track on Demons & Wizards (Uriah Heep)). The bass drives the whole song. There are multiple bass breaks. Nobody seems to be quite sure who played bass here but my money's on Gary Thain. It's just a killer bass track. If I could play like that, I wouldn't be driving computers for a living.

Interesting, when I look on Wiki they state that Mark Clarke played on one track from Demons and Wizards, the reat is presumably Thain.......I sure liked him, he looked (and played) the rock star, loved those big furry boots and his long hair!

I love Thain's playing so much. The live album might be my favorite bass album. So prominent and high in the mix. I wish we had more from Thain, but he died so young.

I kind of invited us for a house warming party. We can help decorate while there. Win/Win for everyone! My only request is not being in the room next to PillO. Don't want to be the easy target of opportunity for any mischief, which is certain to happen.

Yeah. Listened to the extended version. It has to be Thain. Great bass..
