Thunderbird Club

It’s not really far - maybe 25 miles or so, but there are 2 tunnels and 2 bridges, so it’s a 45-60 minute drive.
I’ve never seen an Eppi custom shop Bird in person. Some of the regular bolt neck Eppi Birds are quite nice players.
Take a Saturday drive and check it out. The prices on them, like everything else, keep going up.

OK, you just don't see this often. Saw it at Kohl's with the wife...in the jewelry of all places. I first thought they were hair clips.

They have the Epi IV 1.73 width at the nut. Flatter D profile. I find them very comfortable. The finishes are beautiful.

Gibson 2021 (fake) Birds….. Rev has Hipshot mini clovers, Korean repaired neck, Chinese body, Chinabuckers (Ey) and original 2014 Gibson wiring harness …NR is original …..

What’s the neck profile like on those? And weight?
The reason I ask is this is for sale within driving distance:

I've not weighed mine, but it's about the same as the other Classic IV bolt-ons that I have. Same neck shape too. Better sounding pickups (imo).
Fantastic paint/color

Kara - you still have that CAR beauty! She’s a looker, keep her if you can.

It & the Blackbird are two I really don't want to part with....we'll see, I guess :nailbiting:

The VP & the burst are almost ready though (need final clean-up, packing/weighing)

This looks so good I think I'd buy it if it sounded awful. Going chrome would look pretty cool as well.

I'd love to do that to mine. Especially if I could find some chrome pickup covers.....

What are your thoughts on the Chinabuckers? Any good? Similar to the Eppi VP pups? Similar to the new Gibby NR pups?

I’ll just chime in on the CB’s
A bit hot in the high mids.
to my ears anyway.

So on the Mesa. I pull that back.
All the growl is still there.
But the CB’s lack in low end.

Just sayin…..

WC coffee at 2am in the morning is the best on the planet, bar none. If you’ve ever seen a WC “beef” patty you’d know they are about 1.5” square maybe a 1/4” thick and have a half dozen holes punched through them. The standing joke was - they used them as coffee filters.

My funny WC story - when I first moved from CA to the Cincinnati area in 1980 I stopped in at a WC for a quick bite. Looked at the menu on the wall and thought - awesome, a burger for 25 cents! So I ordered one. The girl behind the counter looked puzzled and asked if I wanted one bag, I said no, just one burger. Needless to say, I was a bit underwhelmed with what I got.

For the longest time I thought I’d go down under if I ever left the US. Then the wowzers hit. Now it’s looking like Ireland if that day ever comes. Scotland is beautiful to visit, been there many times but it never seemed to have that air of independence that Ireland has. Norway sounds interesting but I haven’t spent enough time there to get a feel for what it would be like to live there. Spent a lot of time in Japan, vibrant cities, beautiful countryside, friendly people, always felt welcome as a visitor but not so sure that would be the same as a transplant.
Sorry if I’ve talked down the place too much. It is still a nice place to live but not the same as 30 or 40 years ago. Of course. For those with the coin to get a place around the harbour or beaches in Sydney it is still awesome. For those of us in the sprawl not so much. :)

Sydney real estate prices are at crazy nuts prices, Byron Bay on the North Coast of NSW as well due to Sydney lawyers and the like buying up the place for weekenders. Not to mention celebrities, movie actors etc.

It is a bloody long way from the US though.

I think the VPs are a little shy in the lows as well--compared to the 64s, which is why I like Boomers or Round Core Boomers on at least one VP.

We have Dick's Drive-In. I think there are about six of them, total. Their fries are fantastic when they are hot and fresh, but they are awful when they start to cool. A Dick's Special is the best cheap and nasty hamburger you can get. In-N-Out just doesn't compare. All these burger joints come from the era when Thunderbirds were first designed, so there's that.

I went to school in Couer d' Alene and we would drive the 32 miles to Spokane to go to Dicks Drive-In. I even took my wife there many years later! AHEM! HAHAHA!
