Thunderbird Club

:)

I've always liked tinkering on broken things - when I was younger & still into cars (before computers/electronics started to take that spot), I liked to find old broken-down cars in fields & such, and drag them home (sometimes literally.... ), and tinker on them just enough to get them drivable again. Then I'd generally lose interest & sell or swap it for something else that was broken.
Too cool! These days that’s a very rare trait. Most kids nowadays expect everything on a silver platter and rarely want to roll up their sleeves to troubleshoot repair and rebuild things. I find tinkering inventing and experimenting a thrill and a get a great sense of accomplishment by fixing things that don’t work or modifying them to work better. Keep up the fixIt posts, I’m really enjoying them.

Yeah, the arrogance of Thunderbird experts here is nothing short of being based on fact. Who do these people think they are here anyway? If it was the right and wise thing to do, doggone-it...Gibson would certainly have done it as their great track record demonstrates. I mean, think about it, you have a perfect Thunderbird PU and PU placement that works on an epic level. So clearly the right thing to do is change both. Who in their right mind would ever question such logic?
Actually, it's marketing genius. Each iteration is somehow different so people buy a bunch of 'em.

Thunderbird Tuesday with my fave "Hair Metal" band (tho they really outgrew that) Cinderella. What's not to love here? Long hair, guitars, '60s Thunderbird, beautiful girls in sequin hot pants and boots, it just looks like fun, which is the best thing to have!

Awesome! Little Richard. And a resonator in a hair metal band! It looks like one of the San Luis Obispo repros. A friend’s late husband founded that company. Great guitars.

I kinda like the rain and crummy weather, up to a point. Late October is when hibernation sets in, but by now, I like it again. In January or February we will get the teaser that comes right before either a blizzard or a days long downpour that never ends. More teasers in March and April, but still cold and wet. May usually seems like an improvement. Then Junuary comes along and it is awful until just after July 4.

Why do I like living in this climate and keep staying here?
That weather is the only reason I ever made it through college. It kept me inside and at least trying to study. I wondered how folks could make it through school in SoCal or Arizona, all that sunshine and warm weather. I would have never have survived.
Happy Thursday everyone.

As long as I don't have be in it :rollno: Or talk :rollno::rollno:
I really don't like being on camera, still or video :nailbiting:
I love taking a “basket case” instrument and getting it into playable condition. There’s a 70’s MIJ semi-acoustic guitar on my bench right now. I refretted the neck and it’s getting a Jazzmaster tailpiece.

I usually take progress pics, but often I don’t have time to post them and do write ups. I really appreciate when others do that though:D

Rust with white trim. That's me on the right mom made me take off my army jacket and put the jock jacket on. LolView attachment 4475922
My TR-2 was rust with red trim. A hole in the floor was patched with what may or may not have been a stop sign in its previous existence. I don't have pictures of it. I really loved that car. It was as elemental as it gets and is probably why I ride motorcycles in all weather now.

My first car was a Triumph. It is about the only machine from my past that I would like to have again.

My first car was a white '69 Ford Falcon 4 door - it was also destroyed in my first car accident (not my fault!) so, yeah I got that goin' for me.

I ended up buying a better version of my first car, my older boy could care less about it, but my younger one really likes it, so we may have a family heirloom....

Our Spit was everything one would expect for 100 bucks the garage (old friend of my parents)where we got our inspection stickers wouldn't even let it on the lot. We called it the Flintstonemobile among other things. Rusted out floor boards and wheel wells, pretty much ran when it felt like it. Had a couple of near misses in it I'm lucky to have survived.

Thoughts on pots............

I'm not good with this aspect of Thunderbirds so comments are invited. Below is the wiring compartment of my 2021 Non Reverse, I'm trying to duplicate this set up exactly for my Epi VP since I have a pair of Gibson pickups for it - Love the tone of the NR and want the VP to sound as good.
