Thunderbird Club

I´m searching a Tbird in my conuntry to call "mine".
These blemishes and scuffs are easy to solve? Or must be sanded and refinished?

Sanding would be what I would do. If you are going to do it, do it right.* There are other options, but you may not get the desired results and need to sand and refinish in the end, so might as well just do it once and do it right. Unless you are wanting some kind of distressed look. Someone who really knows refinishing and restoring can (likely) just fix bad spots but it may not be worth finding such a person if you are not that person.

(*I don't apply this logic to my bass playing.)

To be honest, most people in this club would consider that level of user wear a badge of honor. I know I would. It doesn’t look like it’s been abused, it looks like honest player wear. If I liked the sound of the bass I’d buy it and keep it as is.

However, if you really want a clean fresh look it could be sanded down and refinished but will probably cost more than just buying a nice clean used one. Also note (I am told, no first hand experience) that the active Tbird has a different sound than the passive Tbird. Some like the sound, some don’t - you might want to try it before you buy it to see if it’s the sound you like.

I randomly came across this in video suggestions on YouTube. Cool Gibson factory tour with Jim DeCola. There's some Thunderbird and Firebird content.

I'll reiterate that Jim is as nice as he seems here. I wouldn't have gotten as far with that defective 2018 Thunderbird if it weren't for him.

"At least two Explorers apart". Love it.

7 to 3:30 is later!?! This is one of the reasons I'm in IT rather than manufacturing. If II'm up at 7AM, there's at least a 50% chance it's because I worked all night. Either way, it doesn't happen often.
