Thunderbird Club

Don't know what this is all about, maybe rounders? Who knows?

Unless someone has something to say about the All Blacks or Wales RFU, Newcastle United Football Club, or Durham or England cricket I'll go back to sleep.
In Rugby in 'Tahs, Wallabies and Munster. But I am more a Rugby League man ( by s loonnnggg way). Yes - a Mungo. :) don't hold it agin me.

Always loved watching Rugby unfortunately its televised very rarely here in the states and consequently I've never fully understood the rules and strategies. But you can tell any sport is a great spectator sport if people like me that don't have a clue how to play it still enjoy watching it.

I love American Football also, but like many fans this year I haven't watched any games. Maybe next year they'll get their act together. Soccer is something I've tried to get into on numerous occasions, I even used to play it, but it just doesn't seem to hold my viewing interest very long. To me it's kinda like a NASCAR race, hours of running around in circles and only minutes of actual drama. Seems like I could watch the last 10 minutes of the game and pretty much see most of the action that mattered (same with NASCAR).

The strangest sport to me is Basketball. I find Professional Basketball to be about as exciting as watching paint dry. Yet, I can't think of a more action packed, on the edge of your seat, thrill ride than College Basketball. If you've never had the opportunity take some time to attend a sweet sixteen College Basketball game, do so, it's life changing.

For me - College B'Ball is to sports, what Gibson Thunderbirds are to Fender Jazz basses.

Rugby League is closer to American Football than Rugby is, though a much smaller game on the world stage.

I enjoy basketball if I'm at the game, on TV - not so much.

The only sports I've ever been any good at are target shooting and swimming and moderately good at cricket at school. I find trying to watch any sport on the box difficult to dull, I used to be a fan of the formula one but that seems to have turned into a politically driven money pot with the emphasis on lining Bernie Eccelstone's pockets, the racing seems to be semi fixed gone are the days of good old fashioned wheel to wheel racing.

I do think the American model of sports watching is to be admired (from a distance anyway), it seems to be more of an event to be enjoyed by the whole family or at least parts of it than the pack em in and sit down attitude here in the UK

Hockey. Can be an engaging game to watch when it's an active game, as boring as soccer when the talent's too well balanced between teams.. And of course the volatile silliness of fights on the ice is quite that gag! I don't get it, but that's what it is, kind of a tradition.
I never played because I never learned to skate well enough. That's what makes it it's own brand of exclusive-the gate slams shut if you're not a real good skater, of course... kind of a "niche sport", like curling. :D

Geeze somebody buy a bass or something, I come here so I don't have to hear about football or baseball.

I'm selling this.....
