I have a I and IV, and that works out because that's what I clap on anyway....

That would be nice.

I never finished that post: as I've been on a bass buyathon for the past year and have to wait at least a little while until I buy another one. In fact the only reason I bought the NR Bird was because I just HAD to have one :D.
Edit: Which has become my favorite bass out here.

Please just stop. I thought this was going to look good, but clearly it's a huge mistake. It only gets worse with each new set of pics. Just box that part-out bass up and send it and I'll buy the parts from you so you don't take a bath with this clearly failed project.
;)
Stunning! You should take orders. After sending pics to Gibson...
Gibby already one upped me with that four pup mod collection Bird a couple of weeks ago.

I’ll check mine again. Thought I had 9.2 and 10.1

Anyone notice a sound difference, or was that my imagination? I have the neck pickup in the middle position at the moment. It seemed to have more growl. But it hard to say using hammered strings and a pine body. The mahogany body isn’t ready yet
I was going by memory, but I’ll confirm later today. I also put the neck pup in the middle position and bridge pup in the bridge position with another bridge pup in the Mudbucker position. With any luck I’ll see how it sounds today.

Hopefully it will be a fun night. My black nylons will arrive by mail today.
.
Seams or no seams?

500k on the tone pot too? When I modded a Glarry BFHH, folks suggested 250k on the tone. Thoughts?
Rule of thumb - 500k with humbuckers and 250k with single coils. That’s why I used 1meg pots on my current build. Just wanted to see how it sounds. The pot value does noticeably impact the Range of tone available. I tried 250k pots in my Goth mod and found them to be as dark with the tone rolled off as 500k pots but not as much high end available with the tone knob all the way up.

Well I’ve slept since then, so I’m sure the meter will prove me wrong
:roflmao:

Curious if you hear a difference

Hopefully can let you know tonight.
My past experience with other brands of pups is that location plays a big part in the amount of grit and grind you get. That said, I don’t have a clue how consistent the Chinabuckers are in construction. Two different pups by the same manufacturer that have the same resistance could sound different if different magnet materials or sizes are used or different wire gauge or compound is used or if drastically different winding patterns are used, etc. The comparatively low price of these pups vs other brands at two and three times as much may be an indicator of QC and variance issues from unit to unit - and then again, maybe not. Who knows.

I guess if our numbers are the same we will know. I ordered this batch appx 2 months ago
