Thx. Yes I used one volume/tone Alpha 1meg ohm concentric pot with audio taper and .047cap per Chinabucker pup with a bridge pup at the neck, a neck pup at middle and a bridge pup at the bridge. I also installed a 250ohm resistor on each stack output to keep the tone stacks from cross bleeding.
This is the initial set up, but the plan is to experiment with the three big modular sound shaping aspects of this build (pups, pots and caps) to see how it impacts things. For instance I may flip the middle and neck pup positions to see if I get a more balanced volume level. Once that’s set, I’ll try 500K audio taper stacks with .047 caps in each position to see if I like that sound better, then I’ll try 250K stacks with .047 caps. Then I’ll flip out the .047 caps for some .068 caps if I want to go darker or .022 caps if I want brighter.
None of that will change the look of the bass any, but the journey should take it from the nice sounding bass that it is to an awesome sounding bass. With lots of learnings along the way.

So when you play out, are you the kind of guy that does a “set it and forget it” on the rig during sound check, then use the onboard controls on the two basses as needed per song or set? Or do you have a tendency to tweak the rig throughout the night?
The reason I ask is because I find the Boomers on my Greco to be very boomy on the E string compared to the Cobalt flats on my Goth. I’m not playing out like you, but I do very frequently play those two basses back to back and I get pretty different sounds out of them. I might try dropping the E side of the pup on the Greco to tame it a bit more, haven’t done that yet.
Are you talking about that when using your VR?
not much of a twiddle the amp kinda guy while playing....sometimes a minor adjustment here or there....truth is I set the controls pretty flat as theoretically, I'll get the most headroom across the freq band and alter my eq by way playing with a pick or not, plucking position, bass/string choice and the onboard controls on the bass...
Not so much the VR vs any other amp. I’ve always been “set and forget” on the rig. It’s just that when using boomers on one bass then switching to a Cobalt equipped bass I find a fairly big difference in volume and tone. I currently compensate for it by backing the onboard volume down on the Boomer equipped bass. I’m thinking it might be better to try to fine tune the pup height to reduce the boomy E string, just wondering if Chuck ran across the same issue going from boomers to cobalts in the same play set.
