Thunderbird Club

Sometimes we and the general public trash drummers..I’ve been blessed for the last ten years to have a solid, funny, intelligent and 100% good guy as the other half of our rhythm section.
I’ve done little things for him in the past like electronic /electric repairs, advise ect...no big deal.
We rehearse at my house and his second rig stays permanently set up in the basement so he doesn’t have to load in and out when we get together.

I’ve paid him the highest compliment that I could think of when I told him that I don’t look back at him during a gig most times because I know exactly where he is going to be during the song.

Last night after rehearsal he hung around after everyone else had left.

He gave me this and said thanks for everything that you do for me.

It great to be in a band with people that you enjoy being around..Cheers.

That is an awesome token of appreciation, good on you for being a decent person!

They look like you couldn’t make up your mind if you wanted a top Jack, side, angled, sticking out. How about all of the above in an audacious chrome setting!

:roflmao:
They’re an elegant solution to keep the plug as close to the body as reasonably possible. Beauty.

I'm coming to terms with the side jack. One looks at all of these things entirely different once you have to decide if that's how you will actually build it.
I think they look fine on Strats. I've just never taken to them

Ascetically I kind of agree with you, but on a strat they just look normal and another jack would look weird. Just like they would look goofy on a P or Jbass. I do like the practicality as the cable head isn't sticking way out from the front or side to be banged around. Right angles obviously excluded.

That relationship in a band is sadly too rare. You are blessed indeed. Fortunately somehow I've managed to avoid being in bands with people with an over appreciation of themselves. I always thought if I'm playing for fun and only a little money, I'm not going to be around talking rectums even if they are great players. If I were making a fortune I could likely overlook a Pete Townsend type. At least for a while anyway.

I’ve always used right angle cables at the bass, and looped the cable through the strap. So I guess that circumvents the need for that jack, at least for me

Yeah, I hear you. I do as well, but there are a couple basses that the right angle doesn't fit into the recessed area. I'm still amazed at some guitar and bass players who don't loop the cable through the strap. Apparently they're great at never stepping on a cable or getting it caught on something.

Oh I step on the cable everyday. I suck at that lol

Actually, if you loop your cord through your strap, it is a very sensible installation.

I like having the Strat jack on my Hamer FBIV. I don't need it on any other basses but it wouldn't stop me from buying a bass if it already had that jack. It does help with cable-management and I am one of those that loops the cord thru my strap whenever I can. I can understand why someone wouldn't like it tho.
