Thunderbird Club

Hello

New to the club and I need some help.

Just got this Nikki Sixx Signature and I have no idea what brand it is. Possible a Fernandes but they usually come with the Spector inlays, gold hardware, and the logo. Mine has non of those and dot inlays! View attachment 4580076

Anyone have any idea what I have? here’s also a NBD thread i made.
NBD: Unique Nikki Sixx Thunderbird

It has a few unique features for sure. The hs may look like a NS Sig or a Spector but I doubt it is either one. I'll guess since it has Gotoh tuners, it's a Japanese export bass of presently undetermined brand from the late '80s-early '90s. So one volume for both h pu's together? That would be odd. How does it sound?

Oh, go ahead! Get one at ZZounds, check this out:

Well, I think it might be a good idea to pay my home insurance, the Infernal Revenue Service, the electric bill, etc. Unless someone wants to buy my 67 NR for ~$12,000-plus shipping*. Includes Coffin Case.

*might throw that in. CONUS, of course.(NO FEDEX!!!)

Everything about it screams Fernandes, but I have never seen one with only dot inlays. Have you removed the neck to see if there are any markings?

So I took my first picture with the new phone…

Ditto wasn't enough??

I don't understand why management doesn't have a serious talk with artists to let them know that opening their mouths on politics runs the risk of alienating half of their audience. And once those people stop buying your music, t-shirts, and whatever miscellaneous crap you sell them, your revenue line drops by half while your fixed costs remain the same (just ask the Dixie Chicks). But I suspect that there is a fair bit of hubris on the part of the artist as well thinking that they couldn't be wrong and that they are so inspirational that they will change people's minds.
Have people turned away from “The Chicks”?

Lock picking is sooooo fancy.

Almost every lock will "pop" open when struck with the force of high-top sneaker swung at a decent speed in a downward motion.

Don't ask me how I know this...
At a cyber security event I used to go to when we could travel interstate… they have a mob at a display booth demonstrating lock picking and running a competition for the attendee that can record the fastest time to pick a specific lock.

Locks and padlocks hold no fear of me. Hopeless.

At the same time, if you have influence, why not use it? And if you've made a ton of money and been smart about investing it, you can take the financial hit.

I like flannel because I can roll it to taste and it's soft. I slip it in and out in one second. Foam to me always mutes too much, a lot of times I just like to take the shimmer off the round wounds and maybe cut a little sustain. I do like the neck pickup alone, I don't find a lot of interaction between the two. I like the Rotos because they have a great midrange when muted besides the fact they feel best to my fingers. I like flats too but miss the RW shimmer when I want it.
I'm going to have to give flannel a try, for the reasons stated. I love foam at home, but live that cool muted tone seems to disappear.

There were a lot of good local bands around my area back then. This one's great except for a bad splice, I played with this guitarist off and on during the 70's he was great. This band used to be the house band at a local teen club called The Comic Strip, they opened for all the big bands of the day, among many others The Young Rascals, Yardbirds during the short period when they had Jimmy Page on bass and Jeff Beck on guitar. He jammed with the two guitarists in the cellar dressing room, I asked him what they thought of him, he said "Huh? I think they thought I was this fat young kid"

These guys almost went national but nope.

I've heard of the New Breed! Someone, somewhere, played that single for a long time ago.

Who was the guitar player?

His name was Lee Vachon, he died about 20 years ago, rock & roll excess. Here's a demo I did with him during the late 70's. He wrote this. He was on the right in the picture.
I think there was another band that had a hit with that same name some years later.

Security cameras will film the thief - and then what? When I lived in Pacifica my motorcycle was knocked over in broad daylight and caught on a security camera down the street. It showed my neighbors (a couple) who lived across the street attempting to right it after they (being bad drivers) knocked it over with their car. It clearly showed their car, but you couldn't read the license plate. I made a police report and sent them the footage. They might have visited them and asked if they did it and because nothing was ever done about it, I'll assume they played dumb and that was that. It would have been the same if I approached them - their word against mine. Another example, a good friend had his pu truck (parked in front of their house) bolted tool box broken into and expensive power tools stollen in the middle of the night. It was caught on a security camera showing grainy silhouettes doing their hit & run. No use other than (barely) seeing what happened.

I'll get Q on it... he'll come up with something involving smoke and spreading slippery oil on the landing along with a loud siren so the thief falls down our long stairway when he try's to run away.

From November to mid-January, people on Next Door were routinely posting videos of porch pirates and vehicle thefts. AFAIK, nothing ever came of any of them. You have to get *really* clear footage of something important (license plates, faces, etc.) to have a remote chance. They can help, but not nearly as often as people think. Part of that is cheap equipment, part is camera placement & lighting, part is luck, part is local law enforcement load & concern.
