It's great - every band member gets screen time in front of the camera... every member BUT the bass player! It was a thing for most bands (other than the Beatles or bands with bass-player lead singers)
Could just change the position/title of what we do as "disenfranchisee." I'm just curious if lefty players get more or less camera time. I'm guessing more since it's difficult to get less.... Likely confuses the camera operators so they tend to focus on them as they try to figure out what's different.

I think most artists drastically over-estimate their influence.
And their opinions. Fine line between addressing a real issue and personal soapbox that moves beyond awareness and conversation to saying only my view can possibly be correct. I don't think most fans mind a little opinion. We all have them. It's going to a show and getting lectured to as if they are the most well thought out person in the room (which is highly unlikely), that turns people off. I wouldn't even want to hear it from some highly intelligent person who shared my views. Didn't pay for that in a concert. If that's part of an artists thing in song, I'm perfectly fine with it and don't think they should be canceled--I just won't pay to be lectured to live if I don't want to be "enlightened." Freedom is a wonderful thing!

Yup. Including freedom to not finance their agenda(s).

I always liked Bread, David Gates wrote a lot of great tunes, Larry Knechtel the great session player was the bassist. He played bass on half the songs on the first Doors album and his first instrument was keyboards.

There's a thread his son started in "Bassists"

Larry Knechtel, Bassist
I actually did too, and they even had one "Rock" song! I'm in touch with my softer side. (This doesn't mean I go around touching my butt, so don't go there.)

Sometimes the reality doesn't live up to the hype, I'm thrilled you are enjoying it. Wouldn't be good for you to be thinking, "You mean I paid that much for this....." Glad it came home!

I'm able to play it reasonably loud and can "hear" it well, the pickup must be quite hot, it's cranked down, basically flush with the ring and is still loud. I'm reluctant to fuss with it.

Even though you and I strive for different sounds, playing a mid 60s TBird has basically ruined me for any other bass. A hearty welcome to the club.

Incidentally, that photo you put in is of an early 4003. They turned the truss rods around and put big nuts of them for three or 4 years after they started making 4003's and made two piece pickguards so you could access them. It was actually quite an improvement.

Yes, by the late eighties the trussrods were adjusted from the headstock end again and those extra screws from the bridge were gone.

See - that's what I'm talking about. Slag some band you don't like and the person you are conversing with likes that band. I ran into that slagging Magma, mostly/specifically this vid with Magma drummer/founder Christian Vander. I do enjoy it, just possibly differently than a die-hard fan. What can I saw, he's French.

I remember being quite shocked when I watched Magma's 1981 Bobino concert from a VHS for the first time. I loved their 1975 double live album and this "space soul" phase was a bit different to say the least.

I don't find mine loud. Not like a VP anyway. My neck PU is kind of low, possibly about where yours might be. But because the bridge is lower in volume I never raised it up that I know of. Sound fantastic, so why mess with it! I guess it could sound fantasticier. Maybe one day I'll tinker with it, I just have never been playing it and thought I need to adjust something.

By 1985 actually, JH took over the company from his father mid 1984 and I think he took the cap out and made a decision to change the truss rods. My '85 has the new truss rods and adjusts at the headstock.
