Thunderbird Club

Congrats on the Thunderbird. Hold up. I've known nothing but nickle on my '64 Thunderbird for decades, when I got my modern Thunderbird I was not really in love with the black. I waited and in grew on me. I know don't mind it looking different from my other Thunderbirds, in part because it doesn't sound like any of them either. My '06 Thunderbird is wonderfully made and plays as well as my '64, which is a massive compliment. I love playing it. You may want to change it out, but maybe give it some time first. FYI, black strings do look great on them.

What's the closest you can get to EBCFs in black? I've been thinking that would look cool on the White Bird.

Someone is out to get you. They want you to start investigating JFK so that you reach the same conclusion and take your own life. If is a genius way to assassinate someone!

On a related note, there is a homeopath trying to kill me. I know this to be the case; I have had my water tested for poisons and nothing was found!

So you're saying he hasn't succeeded yet? :smug:

Just reiterating(echoing, retweeting, being redundant, repeating myself).:smug:
Seriously, the only pro studio recording(Criteria in Miami) I ever did, the engineer wanted me to plug into a jack on the wall. I said "Nope. Mic my amp". He wasn't thrilled but he did it.
As has been said before, bass amps don't matter with many sound people or engineers. It just makes the bass louder. It's not like it affects the tone or anything.

Cool. Here are a couple pics of what my wife calls “the toxic waste dump.” I’m actually in the process of going through my cds to move them to the other house because we’re capped on data usage so I can’t stream Spotify there all day like I do here. Also looking into a table for up there so I can flip some vinyl.

Gotta be some good stuff in there!

I love that song the first time I heard it. While it's ingrained in my head, the one you posted is a clever take on it.

Never knew it was a cover!
Nice and tidy now, and I’m sure it sounds better as well.

^This!
They really do bring a different flavor to the meal.

The two black stings that I have any experience with are DR Black Beauties and LaBella Black Nylon Tapes. I like the sound of EBCFs, and neither of those sound anything like them. I'm nor sure any black string is going to get in that sonic territory. The DR BBs would be definitely be the brightest of the two, but nowhere near sounding like the CFs. The BBs felt odd and a little grippy. They are coated SS--but I forget which of their versions of SS. The LaBella's don't feel like flats and you can tell they are nylon but are super slick. Oddly enough, some people complain that they sound like plastic when you are playing. This would only be when you aren't connected to an amp and you wouldn't hear the strings hitting the frets. I'm not exactly sure why this is a complaint since most of the time you'd be playing through an amp and would never notice that. I guess some people just feel compelled to complain about something. They can sound like a cackling fake laugh unplugged for all I care since I prefer using an amp. In other words, I can't help you there!

How long does it take for those EBCFs to settle in?
Mine had a wicked case of sticky string when i first got them. Finally slid some heavy paper over the fingerboard and let loose on the 00 steel wool
They still have a brite bite to the tone though
