Thunderbird Club

I like this because it's apparent that Voorman was just kinda running at it, and the feel was there, the tone was there. I tend to get lost in the pursuit of perfection and get frustrated easily. At this point in my life I'm learning to see what I can do for what it is, be on my game, and let it roll.
I need some results, and some truth.
WhenI was a kid I loved this tune, and in later years I went to play it and made it too complicated. Hearing it now is liberating.
Such a brilliant song. I always loved the bass line, and the drum break is excellent. I went looking for a live version and ... nada? Did Nilsson not play live? I did find some covers. This one's pretty good!

Always wanted a Thunderbird, and kinda accidentally just bought one (late night lowball offer on Reverb that was accepted).
Now what are the options on replacing that ugly black hardware with chrome?

Mine came with all black hardware and swapped it for chrome. Congrats and good luck!

Give me a live album any day. Skynyrd's absolute best versions of songs are on their live album and few have ever listened to it. (Makes the studio versions of those songs sound very poor in comparison.) I've gone through two, and just have it digital now.

To your point, one thing I liked about Tom Petty was they recorded at all at the same time as if live.

As much as I loved their studio work, yeah. The concerts were killer.

That Thunderbird clearly chose you. How else do you accidentally end up with a Thunderbird?

There are lots of ways to replace the hardware with chrome. Chrome is good. Black isn't so good.

Harry Nilsson is one of those guys, even if you don't know who he is, you recognize several of his songs.

Congrats on the Thunderbird. Hold up. I've known nothing but nickle on my '64 Thunderbird for decades, when I got my modern Thunderbird I was not really in love with the black. I waited and in grew on me. I now don't mind it looking different from my other Thunderbirds, in part because it doesn't sound like any of them either. My '06 Thunderbird is wonderfully made and plays as well as my '64, which is a massive compliment. I love playing it. You may want to change it out, but maybe give it some time first. FYI, black strings do look great on them.

Happy Tube Tues!…..ULTRA rare 1947 Flot-A-Tone….these were custom built to order at the repair shop of a Milwaukee radio station till the early 60’s for accordion…….of course, they rip it up for guitar…..

Nice and tidy now, and I’m sure it sounds better as well.

Every bass player should own/play at least one hollow-body electric. :bassist:
^This!
They really do bring a different flavor to the meal.

Just reiterating(echoing, retweeting, being redundant, repeating myself).:smug:
Seriously, the only pro studio recording(Criteria in Miami) I ever did, the engineer wanted me to plug into a jack on the wall. I said "Nope. Mic my amp". He wasn't thrilled but he did it.
That's what the jack on the wall is there for - the cord to the mic for the amp. A real engineer would know that. Must have been a Sears engineer.
