I’m a huge WA and Turner fan. If you like the 70’s era music, get the boxed set of everything from that period. I listen to something by them every day.

The "Vintage Years" box? It was a way out of my price range when it was released and the second hand copies are going for more. I have the albums on CD and vinyl already but all the live stuff the box has makes it very desirable. I just wish they'd release at least one 1978 and one 1976 show separately and perhaps a one from the 1980 "Blowin' Free" tour (I managed to grab the '77 Glasgow and 80 Guildford "Just Testing" tour discs they released afterwards).

I’m a huge WA and Turner fan.

BTW, what's your verdict on the bass used on "Argus"? I remember hearing the album for the first time in 1992 or 1993 and at first thinking "doh, he has that dull muted flatwound sound" as "Time Was" starts acoustically but then when it gets going I was like "ah, there's the roar" which reminded me of Entwistle's early seventies live sound.
Then I bought "Pilgrimage" and it was different; a classic Rickenbacker clank on most of the tracks.
Just saying I don't hear the Ric on "Argus" at all. I hear it on "Vas Dis" for example or even on "The Way Of The World" (Turner said he used a very early Rickenbacker modded with Dimarzio pickup on most of "No Smoke Without The Fire") but "Argus" sounds like a T-Bird.

It doesn't say who made it or what age it is but it DOES have cool hardware: A Badass II Bridge, Grover Tuners and a DiMarzio Model 1 pickup.

That reminds me of a former band mate of mine who bought a Dano longhorn because it gave him the sound that Golden earring Bass player Rinus Gerritsen had on "Radar love"

But he was very dissapointed when finding out that Gerritsen actually used a Gibson EB-3 to record that song, since the Intonation of a Dano is a disaster.

Amazingly, there's footage of him actually buying that Gibson.

I've been on a 70's Wishbone Ash kick lately and been listening especially to "Live Dates 2", "Live In Tokyo" and "Guildford 1980" plus selected studio tracks from essentially Laurie Wisefield years before Martin Turner was kicked out (1974-1980). What a fantastic bassist with a very unique style (like a mix of Chris Squire and John Gustafson) and a much better singer than he usually gets the credit for.
Martin isn't underrated when compared to the drummer Steve Upton. Great groove:

The very early Hamer with T-Bird pickups.

Martin Turner is one of my favorite bass players and Wishbone Ash my first real concert in '73 at the Hardrock Quarry outside Akron NY. Martin's tone on Live Dates is amazing, a '64 Thunderbird IV through a Acoustic 360/361, and his voice is stellar. I have had some contact with Martin he took delivery of a Badbird Bridge, though I don't think he has installed it, his 60s bird has had a Badass on it forever and he is reluctant to mess with it. Completely understandable.
