Tight on space...

Going to be picking up a new gig soon. Blues/Rock/Pop stuff. I'm not entirely sure how loud it'll be to be honest, but regardless I need a new cab (or two). I recently got a new Honda Accord sedan and my Aggie DB212 won't fit in the trunk and I'm not about to shove it in the back seat. I've been looking at some smaller 112 cabs and just wanted some opinions. I have a TH500 so I'm set in the head department, but I need a great 112 for not a lot of cash. So the Aggies are kinda out right now...though I may sell my DB212 for some extra cash.

I've been looking at the Ampeg, GK Neo, Hartke, and that's about the extent of my price range. I want versatile and something that can hang in a bar without any PA support.

Hows about a pair of 2x10s? Stacked on their ends for a vertical 4x10 they take up little stage area. When I go out to replace my car I always keep the demands of my gear at the front of my mind. :)

I thought about that to, and I do love 10s, but honestly when I traded my jeep in I wasn't even thinking about music and this gig wasn't offered to me yet. I haven't exactly been playing out much in awhile haha! That's worth a look though. Any recommendations there? Again, trying to stay on the low cost train for right now.

Hard to say without knowing how much you have to spend. But a couple suggestions I have would be a couple of GK NEO 112 cabs which would be light and easy to load in and out of a small car plus still sound good. For 210's I love the TC Electronic RS210 cabs which are also narrow and easy to load.

If the cost is too high, Carvin makes some nice affordable equipment and the Fender Rumble cabs sound pretty good as well. Good luck.

I CAN spend more than I'm willing to haha. The TC 210 and 212 are both on my radar now. I've looked at the GK, but now that I've seen the TC as being a cheaper option in a small cab, I'm leaning more that direction.

Also...would the 2x10 be enough for bar gigs? I was thinking the 2x12 for a little more volume.

I'm with Lz, why not put it in the back seat? It's way cheaper than buying a new cab and u got a bad ass Aguilar...

Because it's a brand new car and I'm not about to start tearing it up. Not to mention I just want something smaller for portability. 3+ gigs a week it's gonna get old lugging the db212 around and also I store it at my parents because no room in my apt and when I go to gigs I'm not about to stop by there and get it every time. I could store a smaller cab (or two) in my trunk.

I like the 1x12 size cabs or the 2x10/2x12 sizes of the TC electronic stuff.

Your car is a tool for transporting things. Use it.
Get a seat cover if you're worried about damaging it.

This isn't a conversation about how I use my car. I asked for advice on speaker cabinets. That's all I'm looking for. Not someone to tell me how to use my things that I'm paying for. That being said, I'm not sure it'll even fit, and I'm not going to try.

Not trying to be a d-bag here, but if you can't stick to the original topic, there's no need commenting.

I'm afraid you're going to have to borrow your girlfriend's CR-V.

I have the Hartke. A bit mid scooped for my taste but I have used it on blues/rock gigs in small bars with no PA support and it was plenty loud enough. It certainly is easy to move. I've considered picking up a second but in bigger rooms I have an SWR 2x10 or Avatar 1x12 I can pair in a vertical stack. So owning a fourth cab doesn't make sense. If you can fit two Hartke 1x12 cabs in your trunk it is certainly worth a look.

I know what you mean about the car. Loading and unloading gear takes a toll. I too would be looking to containing the damage to the trunk.

At least somebody gets my issue haha. Idk what's so hard to comprehend about saying I'd like to not tear up my 3 week old car. The more I look at the TC stuff the more I like it. Price is great, and idk how permanent this is going to be yet so I don't necessarily want to go all in YET. The new Hartke cabs come out soon too. Wonder if it's not worth waiting.

People are trying to help you out with their thoughts and ideas. If you don't like them, don't do them. If you are upset by other people's comments, perhaps you shouldn't post a question.
Now, my 2 cents worth... Being a bass player and owning a sedan is not in the "good idea" column. My unwanted opinion is admit you bought the wrong vehicle and buy a different one. SUVs and pickups work well.

Not sure as I don't know your volume requirements. I can say that I always run 2 RS210 cabs together and have more than enough volume without having to push my amps plus I run them vertical to get them up close to my ears. 1 may work for you, but if you are not sure then 1 RS212 should be fine as it comes very close to 410 type volume. I auditioned many cabs when I finally pulled the trigger on them. They are really great cabs that don't sound muddy or scooped.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the TC Electronic K212 and K210 cabs are also a little cheaper and also sound really good. They use LaVoce speakers where the RS cabs use Eminence. I own both the K212's and the RS210's and switch them out all the time. And I use both sets way more than my GK NEO 410 which is also a very good cab. Hope this helps.
