Time for a stool!

When I am playing pop music I prefer standing. For jazz combo I usually sit. Some of the most comfortable stools I have used are from Roc-N-Soc, of which there are many variants.

Nice comfy saddle IMHO.

The other stool I found pretty comfy was this one from KC Strings.

I bought this one primarily for UB but it works with BG as well. It puts you up in the air a bit so it's not so obvious you are sitting. If the visuals are an important consideration that's something to take into account.

Roc-N-Soc makes tall stools as well but they are fairly heavy and cumbersome. The KC Strings stand breaks down fairly quickly and you can buy a bag for it to carry it around like a back pack.


Neither are cheap, but if cheap is a priority you will most likely be a lot less comfortable.

I hear ya. My back and left shoulder kill me with pain after the second set.
I need one also. Something comfy and portable but higher than a drum stool.
I hate 4 hour gigs, venues don't want to pay more
than they did 30 years ago so the new norm should be 3 hours.
Let's start a 3 hour only gig movement.

I stopped at Walmart this afternoon and checked out their $14 Mainstays folding stool. It's compact, lightweight, just the right height, and inexpensive, so I'll pick one up this week. I had one years ago that I used for working on my car, but it eventually collapsed, but it's cheap enough so if I can get a couple of years' use out of it I'll just get another one.

Well, I picked up a stool at Walmart today, and I think it'll work out just fine. Looking at our setlist I identified songs where I can sit, and other songs where I have to stand and sing backup harmonies. I don't really need to sit all the time, just enough in order to give my legs a break.

I have been forced to sit at gigs for quite a while now and have been using a piano bench. I am now looking at nice folding chairs as a classier and more comfortable solution

Not much room for gear, but you can ride these to the gig. Trailer maybe? Apparently folks have gas powered stool competitions. Technically these are "bar stools", but we should be creative, huh?

I don’t like it. I sit with my knees splayed and the bass rests on my left leg and hangs down between my legs a bit. The front of this stroller protrudes too far. I definitely need a comfy seat for long recording/rehearsal sessions, but something that doesn’t get in the way of the bass. The roc n soc looks like it might present the same problem.
