With his tremendous influence and impact on music, TODD RUNDGREN should already be in the R&RHOF but alas he is not.

Why? What legitimacy does the hall of fame have?

They're just trying to get people to buy tickets. So they give meaningless awards to anyone who will let them.

People who get upset about who's in and who's not always assume there's legitimacy to it. There really isn't. It doesn't mean anything.

As far as tourist traps go, it seems like they might have some cool stuff to gawk at in the RRHOF though

I think the reason many disagree is some people confuse pop or dance music with Rock 'n' Roll.

Yes, but in all fairness, many people confuse metal, trance, hip hop, country and other forms as Rock 'n Roll. In truth, pop and dance music share more characteristics of rock 'n roll than metal does. Metal is not something you can dance to. Rock 'n Roll is.

I was voting as much as I could for Rundgren, but it was a popularity contest, not a "merit" contest.

I've been a fan of The Cure since 1985. At times it was an obsession.

It feels weird saying this, but it seems wrong they are in the Hall. I'm not saying they don't deserve the "honor", but from a perspective of Robert Smith saying if he ever had a #1 single, he'd break up the band immediately. Plus they just never fulfilled a Rock and Roll vibe for me. They always seemed anti RnR.

Roxy Music (not Roxie) are extremely deserving, if only for what Brian Eno did on their first two albums. Now, Brian Eno should be in there as an individual.

Janet Jackson, should be in there solely for her work on Good Times.

The only inductees from the list that I would pay to see are the Cure, Radiohead, Roxy Music and The Zombies. Respect to the others’ tallent and success, but they’re just not my cup of tea.

But the RRHOF is a vote of the people, not aficionados. These inductees reflect the people’s preferences. So, rock on Janet and Stevie!

I am a huge fan of The Cure and Radiohead, and both definitely deserve to be in. Def Leppard is the one group that will almost always cause me to get up and change the radio station, but I would agree they deserve to be in. The other choices I could take or leave.

Is is really weird that Janet Jackson is being inducted? Michael Jackson is there, and he's not exactly rock by the strictest definition. It's called the Rock Hall of Fame, but in reality it's just the Popular Music Hall of Fame, and that's fine.

Personally, I think it's a stupid, completely Rolling Stone driven affair. That magazine is about as good as bad toilet paper. The hallowed ground of the RRHOF should fall into a sinkhole.

Personally happy to see The Zombies recognized. Don't understand the Janet Jackson decision. Never a huge Radiohead, Cure, or Roxie Music fan, but OK. Could go either way on Nicks.

Here is the induction and voting process.

EACH YEAR, THE ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME FOUNDATION'S NOMINATING COMMITTEE SELECTS THE GROUP OF ARTISTS NOMINATED IN THE PERFORMER CATEGORY.

Ballots are then sent to more than 1,000 historians, members of the music industry and artists—including every living Rock Hall inductee—and the five performers receiving the most votes become that year's induction class. Beginning in 2012, fans were given the chance to vote for the nominees they'd like to see inducted into the Rock Hall. The top five vote-getters in the public poll form one ballot, which is weighted the same as the rest of the submitted ballots. The wife and I went several years ago... we thought it was just okay, but definitely overpriced...

... I personally enjoyed the Baseball HoF, more.
