Time for our annual RRHOF Bashing

2019 inductees just announced:
Radiohead
Janet Jackson
Def Leppard
The Cure
Roxie Music
The Zombies
Stevie Nicks

Personally happy to see The Zombies recognized. Don't understand the Janet Jackson decision. Never a huge Radiohead, Cure, or Roxie Music fan, but OK. Could go either way on Nicks.

Discuss.

I think Radiohead is an extremely creative project and love that what they do is able to be successful in mainstream music.

Why the hell is Def Leppard there. All they ever did for me is help start the biggest gig barfight I've ever seen in my life.

Maybe the RRHOF has to be looked at as a primer for people with less musical knowledge and opinions than the TB crowd, which is to say 95% of the world's population. I took my son there years ago and it really did expose him to a lot of new stuff in a way that just hearing songs on the radio or online doesn't do. You're not going to feed an infant prime rib and scotch, but eventually after years of trying different things they do get to consuming the good stuff. So maybe it serves that kind of purpose. I guess I'd be happier if they called it the Music Hall of fame, but that's not going to bring anybody in.

I did get to see Slick Rick's eyepatch there, though.

She is known for sonically innovative, socially conscious and sexually provocative records, and elaborate stage shows.

See that part that says, "sonically innovative, socially conscious?" That's more than Def Leppard did.

You're saying Pour Some Sugar on Me isn't sexually provocative? Plus, DL has a one-armed drummer. What has Jackson done for disable musicians? ;)

I agree that the name is misleading. From what I have read online these are the nominees:

Def Leppard,
Devo,
Janet Jackson,
John Prine,
Kraftwerk,
LL Cool J,
MC5,
Radiohead,
Rage Against the Machine,
Roxy Music,
Stevie Nicks,
the Cure,
Todd Rundgren,
Rufus & Chaka Kahn
the Zombies

Out of this group my choices would be:
Def Leppard,
Devo,
MC5,
Radiohead,
Rage Against the Machine,
Stevie Nicks,
the Cure,
Todd Rundgren,

Nothing against the rest just my tastes
Anyone who gets into the RRHOF are cool
Just which artist and at what time/order they go in is always the question
M2C

Annual bashing indeed.
Also, annual evidence that many people do not know the criteria for induction.
Actual criteria: is it 25 years old or more, and do any of the nomination board like them? No?....they're no inducted. Yes?...they may get inducted.

I love King Crimson, but is it rock or jazz?
