Hmmm.... I'm so happy with the EB Cobalt flats on my fretless that I was going to get a set to put on my fretted Jazz, but maybe I'll give these a shot for something different. I'm a long time Sunbeam player for fretted...

Will these fit on a short scale bass? They don't offer different lengths, but this official Dunlop blog post ([Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) seems to imply the same length can be used on any scale...

The funny thing is, the 6-string set ships with a .130 B string. Not sure why the 5-string set only ships with a lighter gauge B.

Here ya go...

SuperBrights are just a hair lower tension than Sunbeams, and don't feel as smooth. Soundwise, Sunbeams are darker, while SuperBrights are crisper. They are not 'bright' in a harsh way, they are bright in a 'clear, open space' kind of way.

I played Sunbeams before I tried these. I still like Sunbeams, but I really like these! It's hard to really understand how they sound, but once you play them, you'll see that mmbongo's description in right on the money.

Ive had 5 sets so far. Not a bad one yet. As a matter of fact in all my years playing bass Ive never had a bad string from a new pack.

Great chance to give these a try. They are low tension roundwounds with a very crisp and clear sound without the harshness of other roundwounds. If you like stiff feeling, dark and muffled sounding strings you have a pass on SuperBrights, as they are the opposite of that!

I've had a pack of these sitting around for a few months but haven't thrown them on a bass just yet. My Jazz is in need of some new strings... Probably time to pull them out and see what all the excitement is about. They'll be replacing some nickel D'Addario XLs that have been my go-to string for years because no matter what town I'm playing in on a given night, I can always seem to find them more reliably than any other string. That convenience factor is a big hurdle for any other string to overcome. Maybe these will be the first to do it.

Right now, 45-105 is as heavy as they get. Not sure if larger sets are in the works or not. I'll try to find out, though!

Love the nickel Super Brights on my jazz bass, their brightness might be described as zingy. As mmbongo said, they are not harsh at all. Very flexible and easy-playing, sound great fingerstyle and slapping (even though I'm a lousy slapper). And they are very responsive to how you play... you can really make them sound how you want them to, even though they have their own personality. Very nice strings, definitely worth trying!
And Dunlop has excellent customer service too.
