Time to switch to Dunlop Super Brights!!!

Hey, does anyone know how these compare to a set of coated DR black beauties. I dig the look of the DR's but want solid tone and feel? I do tend to prefer a "bright sound". Any one ever tried both.
The Dunlops are somewhat comparable to Sunbeams, with more growl and openness to them, and the Black Beauties seem like muffled Sunbeams to me. They do feel similar though. You'll like the Dunlops.

Its been 3 weeks since I put on the Marcus Miller SB steels, so I figured I'd give a durability report. I've been playing alot lately, pretty much every day at least 4 hrs a day between band practice, gigs, recording, and my own practice. These strings are lasting every bit as long as the SB nickles. They are super aggressive and sparkly when new, but hang on to the aggressive mids and a surprising amount of highs as they age gracefully. Compared to roto 66's, The level of break in the rotos get at day 2 is the same as the SB MM's at week 3 of HEAVY playing. If that makes sense. Yesterday the rock band had practice and the drummer commented on how cool it was to hear the string windings in my tone. So I'd say they are pretty darn durable!
As a follow up to my previous post saying I had a dead E string on my steel set, I emailed Dunlop, and after the second email I got a reply from Frank.
He has been excellent, he offered to replace my set with a new one, sending them all the way to the UK.
3 days after the email and I have just received not one, but two sets! Well happy with their customer service.
On the other hand, not so good service from the dealer I bought the strings from, they emailed me saying they'd see what they could do, 8 days later and they still haven't said anything.

Acetone does much better than alcohol in 1/10 the time. Dries much faster also.
I tried the 2-pack of Dunlop Super Bright stainless steel round wounds and their great for a week and then dead, both sets, what a shame, I really thought they would last longer. Well, back to DR Hi-Beams and going to try the DR Lo-Rider MH5 130 Bright stainless steel round wounds with the hex core I love. Also the Dunlop Super Bright stainless steel round wounds were to flimsy for me, all my open notes buzzed and all my other stainless steel round wounds don't buzz at all on my open notes.
Yeah the Super Brights are a lower tension string, so you'll probably have to make a few adjustments to your neck relief to prevent that buzzing.
Yeah, but I don't have to adjust anything cause the Dunlop's don't last long , so I'm not buying them anymore. When I first put them on I loved them though, wished they'd lasted longer.
Cool, so the nickels are good strings.I'm going on 6 months with my latest set, they are the nickels though
Yeah, I just heard the nickels are good strings, they are pretty crispy but not as much as SS.

No, they are more mellow on top and their crispness is in the mids. They are not zingy like steels.

Not quite like steels but more zingy than most nickels. That's half of what attracted me to them.

It's hard to explain! They're not annoyingly zingy, they're good zingy
OK. So I bit the bullet and ordered a couple sets of the Nickle super Brights. I normally play DR High Beams so I am interested to see how these will work out for me. The thing I've really likes about the DR's is I have had great luck with how long they last for me and I'm hoping these will be similar.

I re-sent my original email to Dunlop CS again today and got a response back a couple hours later. Frank is going to be sending me a new set of Nickels to replace the defective pack.
And when I asked if I could try a pack of the SS ones instead, he offered to send me a pack of each!
All is right in the world again.
My Fender Precision Lyte Deluxe always sounded best with stainless steel strings. I've gutted it and replaced all the electronics since the last time I tried Rotos on that bass, but I'm excited to try the SS Super Brights now.
