Time to switch to Dunlop Super Brights!!!

Yeah mine got here in a few days. AND I was able to actually TEXT back and forth with Jason somewhere around midnight Eastern about the order process.

Sure won me over.

Of course, I haven't had five minutes to swap my strings out to give these things a try yet since they got here well over a week ago. So I'll have to hold out on my review for those. But I also odered a two pack of my trusty D'Addario XL 5s in case I hate these. I got two sets of these, two sets of the XLs and a handful of picks for what it would have cost me to walk into my local MI shop and get the two sets of D'Addario. Got here in 3 days and the owner helped me set up my account via text. What's not to like?

Whaaat? If Bass Strings Online shipped any faster, they'd be in your mailbox before you ordered them.
You really have to pay attention to whether the strings you're ordering are in stock or not, IME. Very quick shipping on 'in stock' items, but I ordered a balanced set of Chromes listed as 'ships in 1-7 days' and they shipped in 8 days (after an e-mail inquiry on day 8).

Definitely not BSO bashing, I love what they make possible, just trying to 'keep it real'. :)

Yeah and I'm sure this sale has probably at least quadrupled his sales on Dunlops so there may be a little delay...just guessing.

Completely agree with this. My previous orders were weird gauge LaBella Tapes and were not in stock. They took forever. I would confirm stock before order I anything g from BSO if I was in a rush to get them.

But.... my Dunlop SB order (12 5er sets and a bunch of C strings)..... were ordered last weekend, confirmed the order on Mon/Tues, told by Jason the strings were shipping Wed and I just got a call from the hotel that i am staying at on the weekend that they have my strings (got them Fri or Sat).

THAT is pretty damned quick.

This is exactly what happened. I ordered other strings in addition to the Dunlops and it took over a week in delay. If I get the strings today it will have been a 2 week process.

Not a huge deal, but it was not clear to me that the other string was out of stock.

Same here. I've started making separate orders for in stock strings so they aren't delayed by the ones that are not in stock. Works well as long as each order is over $25.

Sorry for the derail!

I would like to try them out but I'll need a set with a High C string 105- 30. I saw that there are stainless singles available but apparently not in the super bright nor the Marcus Miller. Can somebody tell me if it is possible to get a matching set of Dunlop stainless 105 to 30? I think the Marcus would be better for me because I have a D tuner for the E string that goes down to C. My bass is 35" scale though so maybe I would be OK with the Super brights too.
Another question. Are the ends of these stings wrapped with silk( I don't like that) or are they metal only?

I strung up my Nate Mendel Precision with a set of Super Bright NPS. They do what they say they do, they are flexible and certainly very bright when straight out of the package. I think if I slapped, these strings would be fantastic and I would use them often, but the overall feel for fingerstyle doesn't suit me. The 45-105 set feels much lighter than what I was expecting, and that doesn't work for me. While I do play with a light touch, it's not light enough, most likely due to the fact that I'm a long-time Rotosound Swing Bass user, and still use them on other basses. Oh well, at least they weren't super expensive, worth the price to try them out.

That order was placed Monday July 20th at 2:37PM Pacific Time. While we do all we can to process all orders the same day this order was processed the following business day. The order was shipped on Tuesday July 28th. On the 6th total Business Day after your order was placed. Two of the singles stated at time of purchase they ship within 1-7 Days. Even if you did not email us we would have shipped your order on Tuesday as that is the day your missing singles were received.

You can always request for us to split orders if some items are not in stock. Some users do not wish to have their orders split up so we only do this upon request.

I was away from the office for over a week so no inventory was updated during this time so many items stated they were not in stock when they actually were. Site is caught up now though...

I tried to like these strings but the 40-100 are too light of a gauge. I put these on a 2011 Jazz bass that had D Addario xl 170 45-100 and had to do a complete setup to make the bass playable. I tried the 45-105 on my '72 jazz and initially loved the bright sound. After a week the zing is gone and they have settled into a very midrangy honk that is not pleasing. It is back to D'Addario xls for me.

There is definately a big difference between SB light gauge and medium D'Addarios. I love SB NPS lights but really don't like any D'Addario string other than Chromes. Really a preference thing with the feel, tension and tone being so different IMO.

I like how SBs sound after they settle in after a week or two... but these aren't for everyone for sure.

Ok, I thought I was saving a little effort by splitting my own order. Def'ly not trying to give you a hard time. I'm probably spoiled by Amazon's 2-day turnaround. Didn't realize it was 1-7 'business days'.

Thanks Jason, for your awesome store!

Edit: Just placed another order (to be split, hopefully).

I haven't even had a chance to try out my 40-100 SuperBrights yet! I need to get these strung up to see how they compare to the 45-105 SuperBrights I've been using for 2 years and are much beloved so I can order more of these amazing strings in whichever gauge I end up liking better :)
