Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

I know most of those pedals, what's the one on the top to the left of the equaliser, PE depth charge??
Kinda interested to know where he uses it, can't think off top of my head where it would sound... kinda funny that lots of bands I'm trying to decipher their tone seem to use the depth charge!
He switched back to the BR-2. Wasn't he using the MXR BEF for quite a while? Interesting about the wahs
I thought it was the overdriver?
And what's the theory on what he's running in each loop of the ls2?

The Depth Charge is not an OD. Maybe that's why.
Im guessing the PE was a trial pedal that just stayed on his board to possibly replace the GT2. There is NO way it is part of his "always on" dirt channel. Even if you look at the recent pic of his board, the GT2's drive knob is still all the way at zero.
No idea about the ls2....maybe he uses it as a backup to use his rackmount tuner if his tu2 craps out. I have never seen him hit that pedal in live or in vids

His signal does this anyways...post pedals. Thats what the through box and Radial are doing
Well i have figured two things out today. One makes me a bit sad and the other elates me.
-First....buy using the Dunlop vid to set ALL of my pedals/heads/pre-amps to the same settings as JC....then a couple hours of adjusting/fiddling with the knobs, i could NOT acquire what my ears wanted to hear. Reason?....If you look at the vid he is using all 4 inputs (2 pre-amps + 2 heads) which means that he pre's are completely separate from the heads. :-(.....and unless i am playing in a big place with a great sound guy, i wont be able to use them for the Tool Tribute. I had orig thought that each pre was going straight into the heads.
-Second! Going straight into the inputs of the GK's (shutting the pre's off completely) and only a little bit of tweaking, i got EXACTLY what my ears wanted to hear!
So JC has FOUR signals going to FOH which the sound guy blends for his overall sound.
-2 mics on the cabs.
-2 Jensen outs on the back of the pre-amps.
It IS possible that there is 3 signals....if he uses one of the pre-amps going to either the clean or dirty head. Because Chris did say "which they blend all 3" I havent got that far yet. But will be trying that soon.

Oh to be a pro level bassist......in Tool no less!!
I've given a lot of thought to how I run my DI lately. How I run my signal, if I should use a stereo setup or to split my signals so I have a dirty rig and clean rig then mix them.....I've come to the conclusion that for the level I'm at, it's just not necessary. Plus it would be a major hassle to lug all that crap with me to a smaller venue to play to 50 people. Would it be awesome? Hell yes. Is it necessary, for me? Nah. I'm quite happy with my overall setup and tone. It would be great to get that sound to the FOH but the only way I see that happening is if I spend at least a few more hundred dollars on a DI setup and mic. Maybe down the road. But right now, I just can't swing it.

I have spent the last 11 years slowly acquiring all of this gear. So i didnt hurt the "pocket book" too bad at all.....and the well placed Heil mic(s) of the cab(s) makes a huge difference IMO
