Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

I LOVE his tone on this record. It's like 10,000 days but like, hi-fi. I will never, ever get tired of hearing his tone. It just sounds so friggen good to my ears. It's like medicine! haha That very short trem part in the title track?! Gave me the goosebumps when I first heard it.

Overall, I love the new album. There are moments I could live without, not many though. But overall, I'm extremely happy to hear new Tool music and tone and I am ecstatic there is now more added to their catalog to choose from to listen to. I have no complaints whatsoever about Fear Inoculum. I just wish I would've pre-ord the CD pkg months ago. I had no idea it would be this tough to find it upon release in this day and age! Only Tool can do something like this. Literally. Just blown away and I couldn't be happier it's finally here. Worth the wait? Eh, I never looked at it like that. I have so much respect, understanding, admiration and inspiration when it comes to Tool, it's not even about "13 years since..." anymore. It's just new Tool. And it's a glorious and momentous occasion :D

Know what would be even cooler?! Is if they threw everyone for a loop and dropped another album in like 6 months haha. I wish! Have it be a more traditional "hard rock" type formulated record. A guy can dream, right?

So I have learned some of the new album!....Now I know why the volume pedal has made its home onto his board, as opposed to just sitting beside it.
I was having a hard go with the timing of doing the vol swells on knob and switching the pick from palm to tips....all while turning pedals on and off. What a help it is.
Now just to make room. The Diesel Dawg is useless for Tool, so that will give me the room I need.
Now to decide to wire it up pre or post of the tuner.

Same, the new album has been on repeat for me all week. It's crowded out almost everything in my rotation. And now that I've given it a few listens the lyrical themes are really starting to sink in. Not to go off on a tangent, but my girlfriend and I have really traveled a rough road for the last 5 years. The themes of maturity, aging, survival, rising up when you're scared shitless and killing that fear have really been moving me in a way no complete album has before. Individual songs, yes, but an entire album has never drawn me in so completely.

I had to stop listening to it for a while. Just kinda finalized a breakup. I don't want that pain to carry over into the record when I listen to it for the rest of my life!

But some tool songs are the best for break up songs like push it... in fact id wager half the lyrics Maynard has refer to this sort of “resentment” or something

Turns out this is being a pita deciding what to do here. I was contemplating making a new top. But I have a funny suspicion there has been 2 more pedals added to the fold.
So for now the volume stays on the floor, so that if there is another pedal to add as well as the vol, I will do it then.

you guessing 2 more + volume, or volume and another? I'm still wondering what it is @ 13:58 of 7emptest. Sounds like reverb to me, which would be a new one.

PS, i'm going to be going to several shows on this tour. In fact, i need to get my passport renewed ;). Plan to bring some binocs and hopefully get some insight into any pedalboard changes.

Sweet...are you coming to Canada?...Also if you're going to be at the Detroit show, we should meet up for a brew before hand.

My guess the additions along with the Vol is a Phaser and another DD3.

I could see another DD3 so that he isn't having to change settings on the fly. Are you thinking Phaser for the Invincible solo? I'm still hearing flanger there with the GT2 and whammy.

I'm from Detroit, but live in TN now. Going to start in Cincy and follow through the Toronto's:woot:
I'll hit ya up closer to the date. Detroit is gonna be a little hectic for me, will have plenty of time in Toronto though..

Cool. I'm still thinking it's a Phaser and Adam got him hooked on it. Listen how close the Invincible solo tone is to Adam's phaser starting at 6:38 of Pneuma...and then picture Justin's GT2 and Vicarious Whamy setting over top of it.
Just for shytes and giggles I'm going to pull out the P.E Overdriver and try it with the Whammy. My buddy has my old Prunes & Custard, so I will ask to borrow it....just to eliminate the chance.:roflmao:

I actually thought that phaser sound on Pneuma was Adam on a synth and not on his guitar. Any maybe even something Danny was doing too. Might have to wait till October to verify!

The more I listen to Pneuma I swear I hear a reverb on some parts. It's so hard to tell and it's probably just the delay. Justin's parts are a little understated on this album but like always the subtleties and variations make his lines much more complex than they seem at first.
