Tool tone/FX sticky thread ver. 1

You don't lose any lows whatsoever and the FOH has more control over what comes out of the FOH if he has a clean signal and a separate dirty signal. It makes the overall sound in the venue much cleaner and easy to EQ and or dial in and mix with the rest of the band.

Cool! I have read that a lot of effects pedals can cut or remove the lower end of a signal from a bass. Thanks for the explanation.

Yeah using the stomp for simplicity I'm just splitting the signal and then re-combining it to one mono out, but you can be fancy as hell with that thing. The more I get into the Stomp the less I want to use other stuff. It can be tedious and a hassle, but it's a powerful tool. :D

The HXFX has killed my GAS so hard since I got it. There are still some things I'd love to try one day, but I'm in no hurry and I really have everything I could ever need with it in the middle of my board. I'd like to get the Stomp for the amps and cabs too.

Yeah I'm kind of attached to compressors that have gain reduction metering so I haven't really used the Stomp comps much, but otherwise I am really impressed with everything. The amp/cab sims and the fact that it's also an audio interface makes it a really great solution if you just want to track something super quick too.

yeah I would really like to have an audio interface too. Really could come in handy. The comps are actually really good on it. I was surprised. But they have some really good ones on there and they work really well. No metering as of yet though. Who knows, maybe they'll have one on there one day that does have metering. I mean, they make the tuner visual, why not comp metering?

Hi!! I like to design sounds and I wanted to share this.... I know that probably this thread is against multi effects, but I replaced a lot of pedals and this could be helpful to someone who wants to downgrade:

Note for the JC/Tool experts: I know that the riff is not played as it should be, I noticed that after recording it, I was just testing the sound.
Also I know that the final sound is more processed.... here I’m on the one on one stage.

Cheers!!

Tour is over in a couple nights and still no clear shots of JC's pedalboard for the past 2 months.

Here is the best view i have seen so far, and it's not good at all lol! But i believe that is that is the Tonebender on the far left. Which begs the question.. where is the wah?

Interesting. You can totally see the space on the board where his wah should go....and they played The Pot at this show.

Update.
Justin has what looks to be a black Dunlop Wah and now has afixed the EB Vol pedal, as opposed to last year having it on stage before the board.
I suspect his swells on the new song are now a pedal rather than the vol knob.
I'm wondering whats going on with the speakers that are resting on the floor, but i suspect this was a pic from a festival??....and the cabs were another bands. Because all new 2019 concert footage he is using the Mesa's

Great find Dean. Glad to see the ToneBender still on there. Dunlop could be a GCB100. Anxious to see an updated full board shot!

I've listened twice through so far and the second time through was listening to JC specifically. I'm kind of surprised at the lack of effects on this album. There is a TON of pure Wal tone, which is not a bad thing. I hear no use of the envelope filter or fuzz anywhere on the album. The only sound that has baffled me so far is 7emptest at 13:58. It's some kind of reverb or something? @Toolmybass what do you think about that one? And any other sections that stood out to you that sounded like a new pedal? Otherwise, my mind is blown. Well worth the wait.

I have listened a couple times. Not sure what it is. But it's more prominent on the low string...because when he rings a higher one, you can barely hear an effect.
I will probably be posting a Fear cover in the next few days.
Probably Pneuma after that.

I mispoke about the fuzz. I think there is some Tonebender/fuzz on Descending. Definitely the least amount of whammy on any album with JC so far though.
