Top 5 "Bucket List" basses

That millennium falcon bass that always comes up in google searches (have it I must yes)
60's P (want)
60's J (want)
New Old Stock 89/90 Fender power Jazz special that hasn't had the frets played off it twice (or the Maton JB4 that was stolen from the Petersham Inn in 1996)
Guild starfire (not to play, just so I can say I own one)

I guess I really only have one.

1. Fender Elite II P

They're rare enough to where I can't just go out and buy one at a good price, and when I do actually come across one at a good price, it's close enough to where I already just spent some money on something else and I can't justify it.

Guild Starfire, very cool! Jack Cassidy comes to mind!

steinberger? why?
I am a child of the 80's so they are iconic to that music. Have you ever played one? They have what some describe as a piano like quality. They also represent the biggest advance in bass guitar technology since 1951. The bridge/tuner system is so simple and elegant. I like that the bass is stripped down to its essence, there is nothing that is not needed. Ned Steinberger is a genius. Also, they are not in production anymore so they are something of a collector's item.

You got to play one and find out why most of the owners never would go back to the classics. They're pretty outstanding comparing punch & tone, the secret lays in the carbon's stiffness and perfect equal density; also to mention their climate resistance: hot, cold, humid or dry: tuning them is once for months, new stringing is @ max a 5-7 min. affair. And 3.6kg/90cm (sorry no imperials) is very comfy onstage or in a plane or car ...
