I going to make a batch of soap on the day of the eclipse and put moon dust in it. I will then sell each bar of soap for a million dollars. I just need some moon dust.

Looks like we will be near the total eclipse path on the Allure of the Seas cruise ship, at sea between Fort Lauderdale and St. Maarten. This isn't the official Royal Caribbean eclipse cruise (there is one of those out of Port Canaveral) but the route passes very close to the area of totality so we should get a nice view assuming clear skies.
Yeah! Same here, classes start Aug 31. Just bought my glasses today. $1 at the physics office. I guess we're gonna be about 98% here.
I'll just pop on outside at lunch time.
In the 92% of totality path here in Seattle, which is good enough for me, though I do look forward to hearing your reports (and seeing your photos, If any) if you're making big plans to witness the whole shebang

The wife and I will be going to her sister's lake house in Tennessee. It's on Telico lake near Greenback, just west of Knoxville. We'll have about 2 1/2 minutes of totality.
I will be thinking of you when I stop at your local Walmart or Target to use the toilet on my non eclipse travels north today and south tomorrow.I'm in SW WA and won't be making the trek for various reasons. Although obviously you should be in place by Sunday and not traveling Monday morning, if anybody needs a place to crash either Saturday or Monday night, hit me up. @slobake will be required to vouch for you.

I'm playing a gig that morning in Independence Oregon. There are dire predictions for traffic and cell overloading, etc.

Does the eclipse seem like the perfect time to pull off some kind of devious plot? Everyone will be staring at the sun for several minutes.
Many are traveling to the Salem area for this, the State Capital Building is in line with totality. I would not touch I-5, time to learn the back roads. 99W to Dayton, Hw 221 south to Doaks Ferry Rd south, to Hw 22 west a few, then Hw 51 south, Welcome to Independence. Usually it is a bit less than an hour for me just before Dayton to Independence, you will need more time, maybe leave at 4 or 5am, will make less time sleeping in the car.

I didn't read the whole thread, but I live just few miles from Carbondale. Hope you planned ahead! with the eclipse and the 4 day music festival "moonstock" all happening then, they estimate somewhere between 150K-300K people flooding into the area.
I'm avoiding the Carbondale area completely. I have reserved a campsite at West Dam of Lake Carlyle, which is a bit north of the eclipse path.
Will leave Sunday morning to arrive by check in sometime after 5 pm. Then wake up early on Monday and check weather forecast. There is a whole lot of rural area west-northwest of Carbondale that I hope is far enough away from that crowd and also far enough away from those going South from St Louis.
If it looks like overcast conditions in my targetcarea, then I want to leave 3 or 4 hours time to drive East or West to another location.
After the eclipse I'll be staying Monday night at the campsite and maybe even do some fishing and check out the scenery at Lake Carlyle Tuesday morning. This should let most of the traffic clear out and I can have easier driving back North late afternoon.
