I brought 3. gear 4 music bass's a six string electric View attachment 4409568View attachment 4409569 it had rubbish electrics very poor so I Changed the pickups vol tone pots wires everything. The neck also had a bow in it sorted it out not a bad bass now but it's a bit heavy. The second bass I got of this brand was a 5 string acoustic ovation copy View attachment 4409574This by far the worst of the 3 does not stay in tune came with the standard bow in the neck bridge came away from the body the worst fret buzz I've known on a bass. it's good points it's light and looks good and the electrics work. The 3 one is a 4 string acoustic View attachment 4409564This was the first one I got about 3 years ago but I haven't really played it anyway it came with the obligatory neck bow and bad electrics I could not hear the d and the g strings through the amp. So I got a better piezo pick up so that sorted the problem put a new set of strings all well tried to tune up the d string then snap snap snap went the machine head :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: the gear inside was slipping so took a machine head of the 5 string and fitted it  took the bow out of the neck now it's seems ok :) I don't really complain about cheap guitars but 3 in one go from the same brand with big issues is really not on. I have always liked the ovation bass View attachment 4409593so I will get one. I have an ovation guitar and that's great so I trust the brand
I had an Ovation 12 string back in the 70s that I LOVED but the neck became a Banana so I traded it for a Maton 6 which I still have. MY question is, why would you buy 3 gear 4 music basses if they were all so bad to start with? One would have put me off.

After my brother died I stopped playing I was kinda lost :( fast forward a few years one of our customers at work was waiting for his car to be finished he had an acoustic bass he was playing on one of my co workers told him Rollie plays too so he handed it to me I played a little. I liked the feel of it . so I looked on eBay to find a acoustic .the gear 4 music website came up  The first one I brought was the 4 string acoustic it looked great but when I got it I just left it to one side I did not play it. i guess was not ready at the time. But I liked the look of the six string electric and the 5 string acoustic on the gear 4 music website so I brought them  at the same time. that was 3 years ago. After joining talk bass I started to get serious about playing again :) so that's my story

Our Kelp beds have come back and are now very healthy again. (Brown patches in aerial photo I took last winter). The sea urchins got over populated and were eating the roots of the kelp. With the help of some scuba diving clubs, they killed most of the sea urchins by smashing them with hammers allowing the kelp beds to re-establish again. That said, the kelp beds are very important with maintaining the underwater eco balance. Photo is just few miles from my house of Lunada Bay, Palos Verdes, SoCal.

Saw a Triumph Rocket on the way home from Hadrian’s wall. Thought of you Rollie. Loads of bikers about today.

As promised, bath house, forts, wall, Kevin Costner’s famous diversion to Sycamore Gap from Robin Hood and a Roman communal toilet!
