My old LG phone used to dredge up photos from "this day in your past" and invite me for a look-see. Background or ancillaries I never noticed before sometimes give me new perspective on a photo I forgot about long ago. I wish my new Samsung phone would do that.

Our local sandy beaches in the background and the Cove in the foreground is a great surfing spot with long rides. Has been one of my favorite surf spots.

Whereabouts? Most of my OrCoast shots are near Brookings, in the Southernmost sector, as far North as Port Orford.
I went for an afternoon hike yesterday just north of Arch Rock.(the seastack further out in this photo.)

I don't think it's the phone itself, but likely whatever app it came installed with that is the default app to view your photos/gallery.
This Photos app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 does indeed pop up 'memories' or 'look back' (or something), though I almost exclusively use my Gallery for viewing, editing, and sharing. Try using the Photos app if your Samsung has it, or install it for free via the Play Store if it doesn't.
I’d bet with the temp drop and this, there should be some blackfin tuna running along the gulf coast just over a hundred miles from here. They always showed up at Okaloosa Island around mid to late October.
