I seem to be developing a predisposition to photographing flowers lately...usually along my daily bike ride...
And, well, sunrise here is kind of spectacular sometimes....
Here is a shot of a family of Sandhill Cranes that are denizens of my front yard/beachfront
And, just because "too cute" works sometimes, this is my 12 year old Samoyed/German Shepard mix/rescue, Simon, in his "nest"
This photo was taken from Slidell, LA while I was visiting "home". This is from Northshore Beach on Lake Pontchatrain, and the buildings you can see in the background are the downtown skyline of New Orleans, from across Lake Pontchatrain - when the weather is JUST RIGHT, you get this "rising out of the waters" vibe, all "Waterworld-ish"

OK, truth told: I have a Google Pixel 2 phone, and the camera on it is exceptional - easily as good as a few DSLR's I've used in the past (not exaggerating). Sadly, later this week, I'm giving it up to my "daughter" (long story - not biologically related, but she's MY KID), we're swapping phones - my Pixel 2 for her older HTC phone. She's going to Italy on a work-study program for the summer, and her mom (we're in a weird situation - romantically "involved", but not, separated, but trying to sort it out, but living 600+ miles apart, but I don't want to talk/think about it any more...) wants her to have the Pixel for the trip, because of the camera. We're all on the same plan, so it's just a matter of swapping the data on the phones, and off we go. I don't NEED the Pixel, and never wanted it, it was chosen for me. That said, the camera on this thing is astonishingly good, and I will miss it.
So, I'm kind of "spamming" this thread until I have to give that phone up. Here are a few offerings from today's stash:

That one joint really looks out for musicians. Not only do they have a designated loading area, but flashers are required!!!! I never got flashed during load in!!!!

Oh, that pretty much covers it, I was in that house band for about 18 months, and like you, it was illuminating in many ways. I referred to it as "musical boot camp", six 45 minute sets, 5 nights a week, no set list, no rehearsals, many times literally flying blind - every night the bandleader would call at least 2-3 tunes I'd never even heard of, much less heard! It was Nietzsche applied to music: "That which does not kill you makes you stronger!", and it made a far better musician out of me. I learned so much in that year and a half, and some of it was what I wouldn't tolerate - such as $75/night for a 6 hour night!
I had more adventures afterward, but it's gotten to the point now that I don't miss gigging nearly as much as I thought I would - I'm actually finding myself spending a lot of time playing classical guitar (my real first instrument) more than anything else. If things sort out with my on-again-off-again lady, we are going to start doing a vocal/acoustic guitar duo thing, so I'm getting my chops and song list for that up to snuff these days (big deal recently: finally learning "The Rain Song" CORRECTLY
). It'll pay off one way or another.If I get bass gigs, my chops are still getting attention as well with that...but...I'm content at this time to be.
Y'know, just be.
