Scenes from San Francisco...........
Last Saturday we (me, my wife, and another married couple) went up into the Coeur D'Alene Nation Forest for a bit of UTV fun. We borrowed a 4-seat side-by-side for this one, though the next time we'll use our own 2 seaters. Some pics:
The Side-by-Side. A Wildcat 1000cc. I didn't drive it, but my friend wasn't too impressed with how it handled.
A rare "selfie" of me, with my wife behind me. She was picking huckleberries. Most of the bushes were picked clean, unfortunately. I think we have enough to make some jam at some point.
This is Lake Pend Oreille, the south shore near a very small town called Lakeview. There is a little pier here, nice place to hang out and have lunch. The haze in the distance is wildfire smoke. The smoke got much worse on Sunday and Monday.

First, a solo kayak trip I took from the family cabin to Bayview Beach.
One of the cool places along the bluffs where you can see how they used to "harvest" the sandstone to make brownstone buildings. That's why the edges are so straight. You can't get a photo of it but in the water you can still see remnants of the old docks where the ships would tie up to load.
The 180 ft Coast Guard cutter Sundew at the Bayfield city marina. If you saw our video in the gigs section for our group Hijinx, that performance was in the gazebo in the bottom left of the photo. Love this city!

This week i drove out to the sticks to assist an older gentleman move some of his bigger furniture into a storage unit. He's been a 'collector/hoarder' in the same beautiful private lakeside spot for a few decades >
We were greeted warmly by his dog who couldn't contain her excitement when we first got out of the car >
He has some really interesting stuff! Though tragically, everything was surrounded by clutter and covered in an inch of dust.
This carved back couch and lamp caught my eye >
( ^ you can see the layer of dust on this lampshade, and it's still glorious in a gaudy kind of way, though i forget whe the origins of these 2 pieces is.)

I considered not posting these next pics because of the horrific period in our history that they represent, but they're a rare glimpse of human history none the less... some authentic WW2 field caps(?) & German Nazi police helmets

He had full uniforms complete with pins of several kinds including more war regalia from different countries to early US Boy Scouts, rare stamps, coins, bobbleheads, records, and who knows what else buried or already boxed up!

^ After the heavy lifting finished, i found myself a nice chill spot on the Cedar River to cool off & rinse all the dust and history off before heading back to Seattle. There was only an older guy and his dog there (they bore striking similarities to the gentleman & his dog whose home i just left!) >

Got myself a new phone yesterday, as the old Samsung S5 was acting up.
I went with a Nokia 6-1, and hope, once I get used to it, to get some decent shots with it.

I remember the story of how Tucker was shut down by other, bigger companies. But it still surprises me that some of his best ideas weren't copied and used by other car companies going forward. Maybe I'm naive but the center headlight turning with the steering wheel sounded like a good idea. I just have no clue if it was practical in real life applications.

I got it from a yard sale for like $20. (bridge and pickup worth it).
I'm a lefty, and as I've done before, me and mr sawzall relocated the upper horn to the left handed side and created a proper cutaway, and the ability to hang level by the strap.
I put a 1st coat of body filler in the wound, but found the neck is just too much of a P.O.S. to put any more time into.
so, my daughter is a lefty... it's now one of the kids' instruments...
it plays, electronics work.... just the neck has a major bow that wint come out (and the fretboard is delaminatiog off the neck.

Is that a FranklinMint model? The real one looks like they tried to copy the paint of the scale model, unless it's a famous one. I didn't ask.This is my Tucker.
