Totally amateur recordings thread

I've been trying to get back to recording after bothering to learn some theory. I recorded this as a first go at actually having some structure to how I was writing music. I intended it as a sort of 50's-60's Pop-Rock throwback, but I don't know if it necessarily came out sounding like that. Outside of bass, the song was recorded using a beat up, old Yamaha MO6. It's all instrumental because I can't sing worth a damn, so it's a slight bit repetitive, but I'm very interested in critique as I'm trying to improve my writing.

I don't really have a critique, but I will say that it's a very cool track!

Stylistically, it reminds me a little of EWF's "That's The Way Of The World."

This is one I recorded on a Tascam Porta One 4-track cassette recorder back in the late '80s when I was still relatively new to producing music. It's an original instrumental I call "Lazy Hazy Summer Afternoon." It's my tribute to summers in the '70s, especially for those of us who grew up back then. So kick back. Dig:

My method is a Presonus USB Audiobox into Cubase 4.0 LE. If you're going to use your iPhone, you might consider getting an iRig or something like that so you could go direct into your phone.

My home studio gear is reasonably extensive, MacBook Pro running Cubase 10 pro, Apollo Twin audio interface, a number of mic choices, etc.

That said, I’m able to get reasonable quality recording on the go at band practice using my iPhone and a Shure MV88 iOS digital stereo condenser mic. You might check it out.
Also use a Fugetek Selfie Stick & Tripod which allows positioning the mic (and camera) for best audio and video. The Fugetek also includes a Bluetooth remote to start and stop recording

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (1st gen) - electrics usually go straight in rather than through an amp, but I use a Sure KSM32 and an SM7B for acoustics. Haven't tried amp micing yet.
