There are some subtle differences between the standard and higher end sigs, mostly the different pre amps. I'm pretty sure the higher end jm sigs have the same preamp as the chaos cores, which wood be the aguilar ob 1's. They have two batteries.

I see these things for sale all over ebay, but when I go to a local store they all tell me the higher end Trabens are on waiting lists...it's weird.

I love my peavey millenium usa plus...but I am definately planning on a traben 5 string some time in the near future.

Yes it has the Augiular pre amp. They speak highly of that. Does anyone know about the truss rod? Does it have one or two, or is it a single with dual action. Does it comes with tools like most basses, does come with anything special in the box? Like I said I don't fully trust guitar center so, I am not sure if they will open it and take stuff out or not.
I am really concerned with the fact that Traben is a Bass only company and they have been around for 10 years and there is not alot of talk or information about them. Their website sucks when it comes to information. I have emailed them with questions and have had no reply. The wait for this bass to arrive is simple killing me. I am not sure what I will get.

Helstar.......dude i think your stressing way too hard....

the bass comes with the usual candy....adjusment tools, brochure, warranty card etc....

I am unsure if that bass has one or two truss rods, however i also own a 5 string model from Traben (Array Obsession neck-thru), and the neck has roughly the same specs (Width wise) and mine only has one truss rod adjustable only at the nut....

i would imagine that the Havoc is the same...

odd I e-mail Todd Rockfield all the time and he is usually very very prompt with his responses to customers...

the higher end basses from Traben are set up at the factory in Fresno California before shipping out to the customer

your bass should arrive set up and ready to play....relax

nice choice by the way i played on recently and my local dealer and it feels and sounds like the cat's meow...

Cool, I am hoping all is good. I think I will like this bass. At least I hope I like this bass. I very very rarly buy a bass with out ever playing it. So, I think that is where my concern is coming from. I emailed the Traben support part of the site. I was trying to get more info on the neck and set up. I am pretty sure the electronics on this is going to be sweet. thank you for your input.

I'm sure you'll lke the bass. As for the company Traben has actually been around for a while, but they were more in the buisness of supplying parts to other companys, kind of the way Samick does. They got into doing licensed repros with OLP (their other company) and then decided to get into making their own specific basses with Traben. Here's a note...I have not heard or seen one negative remark about these basses, and I have done some heavy research. I happen to be a snooty Peavey american millenium player and am seriously considering either one of the Obsessions or the Chaos Core 5 with maple fingerboard.. One more thing, if you think all these basses can do is metal, type Traben into the You Tube search and you'll get a video of the Tonight Show bassist with his Neo Custom doing some pretty respectable slap. Take care.

well, I picked up the bass tonight. It has to go in for repairs. Neck is pretty nasty, and the pots don't move. When I got to guitar center they were closed but they let me in to get the bass. We opened the box and put it in the case that I bought while they were unboxing it. I was trying to get out of there since they were well past closed. I drove the 1 1/2 home took it out and was like really, are you serious. I think the bass looks great. I tuned it up and it sound pretty good not plugged in. I like the bridge, I love the feel and the look. The battery compartment should be outlawed. It is just a hole with two cheap batteries wrapped in some foam like material. I am going to contact Traben tomorrow to find out to get it fixed. If I have to send it in for repairs I am just going to take it back unless they are will to pay for shipping.
I would have been fine with battery box and the fact that the neck looks like a recurve bow. But when I could not move the knobs, then when I tried to remove the knobs LOLs, they are not coming off.
So Likes= Looks, feels, sound, weight,
Dislikes= the fact it arrived broken LOL.
I will get it fixed then do a better report. I am hopeful that it can be saved.:crying:

I'm going nuts! I just reserved a Chaos Core 5, black vapor/maple board, at Guitar Center. They are out of stock right now, and it's 2-4 weeks till they get them in (i'm hoping closer to 2 lol). I've heard from more than one place that Traben is having trouble keeping up with the production of these basses. They didn't expect the amount of demand there is for them. They really have produced a quality instrument here. I'm glad Traben is selling so many, but I just wish Traben could work out their production.

I played one a couple months back at Guitar Center, and fell in love. Too bad i didn't have the money to buy it right then, because they don't even have that floor model anymore. For now I keep reading about it, watching vids, and staring at pics lol. It's driving me nuts! ARGH I WANT IT NOW! :bawl:

edit: also since the bass is on order can i get a club number? hahah :D

I want one too. But I'll be patient and pray they take time and care and all the QA they need with my instrument!

hahaha very good point!

Though the anticipation is still unbearable!

It's kind of like, as a child, finding that christmas present you desperately wanted, hiding in the back of your parent's closet. You know it's coming, so it makes you lust for it even more. lol

Traben handled mine very well, I got emails from Traben and I got emails from Todd Rockfield. I of course emailed them first. But, I was glad to hear from them. My replacement is on it's way. I really liked the sound of my Traben JOhn Moyer and I am hoping the replacement is is better shape. I think mine was dropped in shipping.
I will say the Black vapor loos awesome, the tone that thing created was awesome, the overall feel of the bass was good minus the fact the knobs were stuck and the necked was really relaxed. I really liked the volute at the top of the neck. This is a touch that you usually only see on higher end basses. Even though mine was damaged when I got it, Traben and all parties involved really seemed like they wanted to get this situation figured out. I applaud them on the customer service I received. I will also say that what little time I did get with bass, I made the decision that I would buy another one. I have actually been looking

I got such bad GAS for a Chaos Core, it isnt funny anymore.

Too bad no one around me ever has them in stock. The closest GC to me had one Chaos several months ago but I dont know which model it was. It was in such poor shape, I couldnt bother to ask.
One of the pots was completely unscrewed from the body and it was pushed down inside the control cavity. Plus there was other damage as well.
They were asking $300 "as-is" I was too scared to even offer $150!

Another mom & pop store was listed on the Traben website as a dealer but when I stopped in for a visit several months ago, they had nothin'!!

I keep checking Amazon hoping to find a really crazy deal on them like you see every so often on Schecters but no luck so far.

While I've heard the term fast neck...I'm really not sure what it means, as I'm still a beginner. I seem to be able to move up and down the neck easier than with the Ibanez that I was using before I got my array attack. Although this may be due to more practice/experience, I gave the Ibanez back to the guy I borrowed it from, so I don't have it anymore for comparisson.
Sorry I'm not more help, all I can tell you is I love my bass.
