the mesa 400+ had 12 6L6's. i'm sure this will be a fine sounding amp but dang, that's a lot of tubes.

Interesting.

The 400+ has 4 12AX7's and 12 6V6's and the YBA300 has 3 12AX7's a single 12AU7 and can be swapped out for 12 6V6's. This could definitely be some competition for the Mesa, just 200 watts lighter and no word on power class that I can find (the Mesa is a class A/B).

I'm not much of a tube amp guy because of bulk, but 51 lbs is not bad at all. (The features aren't bad either).

That would be one of the prototypes. Yorkville had the amp shipped to many of their L&M stores asking for feedback from their store employees.

Production units will start to roll of the line next month.

Even though Canadian made and Long & McQuade owns Traynor, Musiciansfriend sells the 200-2 for 25% less so U.S. prices for the YBA300 are likley going to be cheaper than Canada as well.

Tell me more about this "pair defeat" thing.

Are ya saying that you could, say, turn off 2 pairs for 200W total power, or say, turn off 4 pairs for 100W total, etc?

That would be badass.

I would have to give it a really serious look if it actually works that way.

I been told they aren't really an apt substitute for real iron.
