Tri112 + Tri115 vs. El Whappo

What I really need is you, Ken, and Burk to all come by at once. That's 3 of my short list right there. Maybe even convince Tom to swing up with some Bergies too. Talk about a fun rehearsal! :D :D

Actually, I'm not looking to purchase real soon, and I'm not sure whether I want to buy another bass first, or a new cab first. But I'll definitely keep your offer in mind.

When are you playing in the area next? I'd love to come see you again, and my friend phil wants to see you play again too.

I'm not in agreement that the "stack" is mid scooped at all.
Comparred to the EW, maybe. But comparred to other cabs out there- Epi, Berg, Eden and the like... the stack has way more detailed mids. Again, maybe not as much as the EW.

I'm sure that my perception of this is skewed due to the fact that I have only owned and used Accugroove cabs for gigs in last few years!!

just to ask the how loud question...would a EW still be ok in a smaller venue paired with...a thunderfunk?

i've wanted this combo for forever!!!

In a small venue, that rig would kill.
In a med venue, that rig would kill.
In a large venue, well...................

If it gets anything like my Tri112/115 stack, then you have no worries!

Yup-

PLENTY for all but the big big gigs. The threshold where that rig wouldn't cut it, there would most likely be a really nice PA at that point.

I had a TF 550B for a short while and that sucker was crazy loud. I was shocked. Great pairing with the EW as many folks here can testify.

btw, I thought this might be helpful. Whappo vs. Whappo stack. I'll tell you, it sure sounds dope all together, thats all I know. I had a chance to A/B the two setups together, and they sound more similar than I had originally thought. The stack is a little snappier on the high end, otherwise, pretty close sounding, and volume wise (volume level at same amp settings), very close. The only other main difference I can tell from seeing the two next to each other is how much bigger the vent is on the tr115's 15 than the whappo's 15. Dunno how much effect that has on the sound.

Thanks for the review Jake! Nice website too...

I'm in the process of clearing the half dozen or so cabs out of my basement so I can get one or two really good cabs.

Accugroove is at the top of the list since I can get them locally.

Question for you AG guys. Running two cabs (like the TRI112 + TRI115) don't you get phase cancellation on the high frequencies?

Generally I have to turn off one tweeter when I run two cabs together. If I understand correctly there is no tweeter adjustment on Accugrooves.

If you don't get phase cancellation can somene explain why?

Thanks
