Tricked Out Squier Club Part 2

I didn't think anyone was "becoming a member" (so to speak) anymore... No one is issuing numbers or anything. I asked for one two pages ago and nada. :hmm:

Nice basses all. My favorites since I posted are the blue '51 P, the black Jaguar, and the green block inlay P. All those are particularly sweet to me... but I'd sure groove with any of 'em. :D

This is my latest squier. I replaced the pots, jack, and cap. It has quarter pounders.

Ok, so I bought this Vintage Modified Jaguar Short Scale from the classifieds about 2 weeks ago. Set it up, put some GHS pressurewound strings (which I happen to like a lot on this bass), and got some mods going on...

I just finished the new pickguard in "aged white" with matching strat knobs...just messed up the whole v-v-t scheme...didn't know they came v-t-t! Oh well! Pickguard came out pretty good , as I just did it with a dremel and a blade for the bevel.

Plan on matching the headstock in silver, adding a jazzmaster decal, and paint the pickup covers in aged white.

Pics!

It's missing 2 screws, which by now are already installed ;)

Can I get a number?

bought this bass around xmas from TB'er modulus_acacia. my first Squier, very surprised by how much FUN it is to play. not just for me but for anyone who plays it. buttery smooth. sounds amazing, it sounds like a piano.

on to the details....

70's VM body
77 VM neck
Nordstrand NS4JV pickups
Chrome flatwounds
new 250k cts pots (big ones, barely fit in the cavity), the orange cap (it came in the kit, it was 4x the size of the one that came out) and new switchcraft jack. at the same time i got a DPDT push-pull switch for the neck volume pot and wired everything for a series/parallel switch. my first soldering job. took a while and redid a few things since i pooched on the first go-round
bass string roller tree from Stewmac
Hipshot Ultralite tuners (had modulus replace them for me)
custom pickguard material (some sick prismatic cardboard box i got from a present. it shows light like a madman.

i love this bass. none of others (carvins/ibanez) sound like this or are just a joy to play. weighs in around 9lbs.

probably gonna do a custom waterslide next with 'ButterBean' in Fender script next but other than that, i think she's done

enjoy!

May I join this esteemed group?

The twins below are Squier necks and bodies only. The rest is parts and elbow grease...

The J is a Vintage Modified with Babicz FCH bridge, Dimarzio Area J pups, Artec Mudbucker, Wilkinson tuners and 3 push-pull pots for series-parallel, phase reversal and tone capacitor change. Since the picture I also changed the PG to tort with an ebony wood grab rail. F plate on the back and decal on the front complete the Fender look while the Squier SN and "Crafted in Indonesia" are proudly preserved on the back of the headstock.

The P is a Craigslist special Sheehan-ized (sort of). It is an affinity P body and neck with Guitar Fetish PG and bridge (another Babicz is on the way) tuners from the above VM J, a Willpower Middle and an Artec Mudbucker. Same story as above for the F plate, decal, etc.

That's not a Will Power in the photo is it? Every Will Power I've owned (or seen) has hidden pole pieces. That, it addition to the monsterous tone, is why I love 'em!

Oops, you are right - good eye!

Picture is of a Duncan SPB-3 Quarter Pounder which is not my thing - too much midscoop and too bright on the high end. I still have it and the box and will probably sell it eventually.

Got the Willpower off Criagslist after the picture and love the tone. Goes well with the far neck pup.

Dude, I did a similar thing with my Jaguar HB! I even have the Jazzmaster Decal already!

Great minds...

Well, like I said...I painted the pickup covers in "shell white", just did 3 coats...hope it holds up to the use...this paint supposed to melt into the plastic...we'll see.

Looks very good, I think...

GHS pressurewounds are soo nice on this, as I wanted a little bit of zing to the sound, but a smooth zing...got what I wanted. Smooth feeling too! I'll try these on my P bass later on.
