Thought I'd re post pics of my modded Squier Mustang
This is my favorite Bass to play now.
-Nordstrand NM4 pickups (modded original pickup covers)
-New CTS 250k pots & Switchcraft jack
-Shielded with conductive shielding paint
-Custom Birdseye Maple pickguard
-Custom Birdseye Maple bell knobs
-DR Sunbeams 45-105
What the whaaaat?
I love it! What is that? When was that made? I want one!
It's a modified Squier Precision Special 5 string. The 5 string Squier P-Bass that came with two J pickups from the late '90s to the early '00s iirc.
Amazing basses...even more amazing when you take a router to them and install a 5 string P-Bass pickup.
Man, if Fender would just creep through these threads, their sales might double from all the awesome basses they could start poppin' out under the Squire line.

I'm currently in the process of hotrodding my Squier basses. I currently have 3, 1 more on the way. I was always a J bass guy until my brother in law gave me his unloved and unplayed affinity P-bass... I started tinkering and can't stop!
Here are a couple pics of mine.
The "Jeff-bass" was a freebie. It's an '02 affinity. I changed out the PG and added J style knobs. I'm planning on color matching the headstock but for now it wears a Triumph logo. Strung with chromes this bass is way better that it's price tag says it should be.
Next to it is my '11 vintage modified frettless J. Bought damaged/as-is from GC with a broken truss rod is made a warranty claim and Fender replaced the whole instrument. I added J style knobs and left it stock (for now)
The third is bone stock at the moment. Another GC find, they had it on deeeeep discount with a "broken truss rod " I took it home and disassembled it and whaddaya know... The truss rod is fine, as is the whole rest of the instrument! I plan to add a black PG and J knobs (just something I like on Fender basses). This will be the one that I use as a pickup and pots test bed.

I am debating taking a squier jag body i have laying around , its one with the single humbucker in the bridge and adding a P pickup to the neck position.Making it some what like the old fender deluxe active P basses, i need to figure out how exactly to wire it and get a cheap P pickup first.
