I agree, for the extra 650+ bucks I would personally expect a MIA, flawless nut, frets, USA pots, and hipshot tuners, beyond that where's the premium? I've looked at plenty new Fenders' but they're hard to justify. The mim's I've tried are even less justifiable for the extra outlay.
I haven't checked the specs on the Fender P5, but I suspect it would have graphite rods in the neck which might help with the traditional dead spot and a through-body bridge which would be nice too. But I'm quite happy none the less.
