The bridge one is, the pickup one looks like a '50s style Tele Bass cover. +1, Very awesome!
I just put black Strat knobs on my Sonic with the cream pearl pg. I like your Strat knobs on the 'tang too. Your covers look great too!

yes they are Pbass covers. The pup cover is the 51' style. yes stock bronco bridge. knobs are slip on (no adapting required) whole job took an hour

Jaguar short scale EMG-X pickups, Bad ass II bridge, Flat wounds. this thing plays amazing, really it's one of my favorite to play.
And the hunt for the perfect set of covers for my bronco is on again... I'm going to have to make a list of all the mods I'm doing or am planning to do to my basses so I don't forget any...

Hi Snakeman! I'm still waiting to finish my Squier VM Precision Amber project. We talked in the "Bill Lawrence pickups...best dang Precision pickup EVER" thread! The only thing hanging me up is that I'm waiting for Becky to mail me a "Bill Lawrence pickup" sticker for the bottom of my P46! It seems they forgot to put one on mine before shipping. I'm not surprised, since I got notice on a Friday that she was shipping it, and Bill actually died that weekend.
Anyway, I didn't want to install the pickup and forget that I didn't have the sticker on the back. On my project, I'm using an aged cream pearl pickguard, both chrome covers, large knurled chrome knobs, CTS volume pot, CertainBass Variometer, SwitchCraft jack and some Fender 9050CL flats and I REALLY like the look of the blocked fretboard on yours! I'm torn between black and pearl, if I order the inlay mylar blocks.
Anyhow, yours ended up looking GREAT! I assume it sounds even better than it looks with that Bill Lawrence P46 pickup?

Here's my new to me 2001 Affinity P. The following was done by the previous owner:gigantic Kahler heavy brass bridge, Rio Grande Muy Grande pickup, CTS pots, black guard and brass pick guard screws. I've ordered some brass knobs to complete the look. And check out the flamey neck.
Anyone had experience fitting Hipshot licensed Ultralites to a VM Squier? Looking to upgrade the hardware on my PJ, but I've heard there can be issues with them being a looser fit than the US models.

I have a great solution to your problem. I have fitted american deluxe fender/hipshot tuners in my VM jazz. I had the loose fitting problem. Buy I came up with an elegant yet simple solution. I put heat shrink tubing on the bushings and added heat to shrink them tight. That gave me the tight fit needed.
Interesting. I wonder if that would make any difference to dead spot issues, compared to using a hard shim material.
I used sheet metal shims cut from a pop can to shim the Licensed Hipshot Ultralites I put in my Precision V.
No but it is the same size trust me. Thats what you get with American standard size VS metric standard size peg holes. I'm all for having the metric system to be the world standard to be honest. It would solve a lot of problems.
Ah, I thought I read somewhere that the USAs seemed a bit of a tighter fit, but I assumed they'd be manufactured to the same specifications anyway. Will probably go with the Lic model, even including international postage they're half the cost for a near identical product.
Any opinions on Badass II vs Hipshot A vs Babicz full contact? This would mainly be an aesthetic change, the stock bridge seems perfectly useable.
All great bridges. I have a badass on my precision v and a babicz on my jazz. I like the look of the babicz more. But that is just a matter of taste I guess
There's a lot of conflicting info on TB about the supposed differences between the US and licensed Hipshot products, and almost nothing out in the real world. IMO, the vendor would be smart to offer adapter bushings to fit some of the more common peg hole sizes. After all, not every musician is interested in fabricating shims.
I have the US tuners on my Dingwall, and the imports on the Squier. Tuning precision seems comparable.
On bridges: If you want old-school P-bass thump, keep the stock bridge. If you want some more sustain, do the Babicz. If you want something in the middle, go with Hipshot.
