Thank you. It sounds way better than my Thunderbird, its really a bizarre combination as Ive got the big bottom end thump of the P with the aggressive bottom end thump of the Tbird and together they make a seriously unique tone.

It's a 2001 Squier Standard Precision Special V in shoreline gold. These basses came stock with two 4 string single coil pickups, which aren't so great at picking up the B and G strings. I really wanted a budget friendly 5 string PJ with a precision body, so I was keeping an eye out for one of these as a modding platform for about 2 years. This one popped up on my local craigslist for a good price, so I jumped on it.
My current mods:
Split coil from Squier VM Precision V
Dimarzio Ultra Jazz bridge pickup
New pots which includes a Push/pull pot for series/parallel wiring
Homemade plywood pickguard with ebony stain
Black knobs
Cavities fully shielded
I'm happy with how it turned out. It sounds great and looks good to me. I wasn't sure if I'd like the shoreline gold, but I'm digging it with the darker pickguard.

Nice job I'd be reverting from a PJ if I don't find any Special Precision in good and original condition.

here's the Jazz, an SQ MIJ. I think it's probably a late 84 or early 85.

Plenty of mods to both, already and in the near future.

The VMJV...
High mass bridge, SD Quarter Pound J pickups, SD 2-band Blackout preamp with A/P switch, Passive tone control always in the circuit. After the mods and a really detailed setup, this bass plays so unbelievably smoothly, it’s hard to believe it’s a Squier. Definitely a solid keeper.
The Affinity JV Fretless
Fender Marcus Miller Jazz V pickups, de-fretted neck, I will keep it passive although CTS pots and Orange cap are planned. I most recently installed a Hipshot KickAss bridge and a Roasted Maple/Ebony neck is being built by Warmoth as of this writing.
And finally, the “Beater”.
Affinity JV body with VMJV neck, routed for MM bridge pickup (wired Parallel and coil choice, no series), SD blackout preamp with passive tone control (save as the VM but no A/P switch and stacked Treble/Bass), American Standard Jazz neck pickup (which is ironically made in Mexico...old photo shows SD neck pickup), High mass bridge.

How was the fit on this? Im about to do the same in 4 string (affinity body w vm neck)

These were a direct swap...luckily the CNC machines in China are closely synced with those in Indonesia...
All 4-string 20-fret (Fender/Squier) necks should be pretty much the same...it’s always that 5’s that are iffy...
The 50's Classic Vibe P Bass Neck's(China) will not interchange in Cabronita and Mike Dirnt P Bass Bodies(both Indonesia) and vice-versa because the neck pocket on the CV is deeper, slightly narrower and neck plate screw holes are in a different location in the necks. These 3 models have the Tele headstocks , squared heals and 20 frets. These are the only 3 models I have experience with.
Diggin' your build big-time! I typically don't care for white pup covers but yours give the bass a very vintage look, nice.
Thanks. Ive tried a peavey neck, which fit ok, but decided to put that bass back together to sell. Then i tried a no name "fender spec" japan neck, but that was way off. The body is 2005, the neck is new, 2018 i think. Both from indonesia. Neck should be arriving soon, so ill find out then!
