Tricked Out Squier Club

I'm picking it up this week since, it couldn't do the routing etc. myself.
The J-Sonics are the single coil versions of the normal Chi-Sonics in a smaller enclosure.
The man who did the routing told me they are very resembling to Darkstars.(on which they are based on)
He said they have nice round bass, enhanced low-mids (for that typical JB sound) and clear highs.
They are supposed to be cutting through a band-mix like butter.

This one is becoming the "Squierdowsky"...
Has Sadowsky Humcancelling, has the OBP-3 in it and will also continue getting customized (electronics upgrades, headstock, decal to be done yet)...

Looks more like an Alleva Coppolo if anything.

Had this since Saturday afternoon! I love answering the door to a FedEx guy! Did some clean up but it was in very good condition. Right away I changed out the stock bridge for the Gotoh 201, the volume and tone pots for some new CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, some new dice knobs, and it was ready to go for some recording with my band today. She came through with flying colors and I'm stoked! Excuse the low quality cell phone pic!

More mods to come in the next while!

Let's see some more customized Squier's!! I need more ideas on what to do with mine!!! I'm thinking of having my white pickguard painted by a local airbrush artist that has a shop in the Arizona Mills Mall. He does great work. I just don't know what to get painted on it.

maybe i should leave this club, because what i have now is not squire anymore.. the only squire part remain is the neck. which is the best part of the whole thing and one of the best necks i ever played.
i liked the maple body a lot. its beautiful and have great sound to my ears, but the weight was impossible for me and my back..
so after long time searching and researching i found this black MIM jazz body for cheap price - 50$..

i was heavily considered to leave it black and make own geddy lee version. but decided it's to much banal for my taste so i decided to take of the finish. it went pretty easy with hair fan a spreading knife and looked like this:

my luthier sprayed some coats of nitrocellulose with some yellow to make it more vintage looking and i assembled the rest and now its looks like this -

and now its lightweight bass - 8.7 pounds. and it sounds great and very fun and comfortable to play!
with:
SD basslines SJB2 pickups
CTS 500K pots
Badass II bridge
Graphtech nut
Hipshot tuners and Extender key
Warwick straplocks

no much Squire left in it.
and still the Squire VM is one of the best deals out there!

How does one identify the year that a particular Squier was made?

Don't know if their serial number naming convention holds across the different models (CV, VM, Affinity, etc) or not, but the serial numbers on my Affinity 5's jive with the year they were purchased. Date stamps in the neck pocket also contain 07 & 10 respectively in their code structure.

The two purchased in 2007 start with serial number CY07xxxx, my Affinity purchased a few weeks ago starts CY10xxxx. C being the country code for China. Y = (Yako Musical Instruments - China Division, not the Tawain location). Yako Musical Instruments (China location) also builds for Fernandes, Fender & others.

Yup. I have a VM P body, a VM jazz neck (with blocks!),
Routed for a jazz in the bridge spot
Fender custom shop 60s Jazz PU
Fender standard P
Sprauge .47 cap
two posistion switch - one or the other - No Mixing!!!

Tuned BEAD with TI Jazz flats

Is that tricked out enough?

My CV 60s P starts with "CGRG" followed by the numbers. My Affinity Jazz V is CY08. Both are stellar.

I'm debating whether to sell or keep my CV 60s P. If I keep it, my Jazz V will be refinished Capri Orange. If I sell the P, I may refinish the V in Sonic Blue. Either will have a tort guard.

That's whats holding up my modding.

I believe there is a rule here...
No pic, no bass. :D

There seem to be quite a few people who trick out their squiers, so I was wondering if anyone has a good lead on where to get a replacement pickguard with minimum alteration?

I bought a squier p-bass PG on evilbay and the pup placement on it is all wrong. I have an old 2001 Affinity p-bass, and the PG is long gone, so I have nothing to trace.

Just about every site I visit says that Squier PGs must be traced to get a replacement because of all the variations between models.

If I wanted to make a tracing I would have to trace the current PG and then place my tracing on my bass for the pup holes. This seems like it could go very wrong and then I would be out 40-50 bucks for a custom PG instead of the 10 bucks I'm out on an ebay PG.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to post a pic of my re-finished squier when it's all said and done!
