Trickfish?

I stopped by their booth at NAMM as well. What I "heard" sounded good. There was a real kick to the amp/cab combination. As was said, it is larger than the other class D heads out there and I didn't think it looked quite as classy (for whatever that is worth) but it was one of three heads that I heard that piqued my interest - the Trickfish, the Genzler, and the Bergantino.

Some day, I'm going to have to get out to a NAMM show -- before I come to my senses and the allure of being in the world's biggest, most expensive Guitar Center loses its allure for me. ;) If you say it sounds good, Charlie, that counts for something with me.

The Trickfish should sound good, considering the front end comes from the man who designed the highly regarded MPP preamps. That said, I've never heard or played through an MPP, so what do I know?

What other amps did you hear down there, revroy?

As for the 3000 Watt rating, I wonder if that's peak, RMS, or something else? Even 1500 Watts RMS is a hell of a lot, but it would be good to know.

MarkA, the reason "hear" is in quotes and italics is that there is a general din that makes subtleties impossible...

I was only there one day and really wasn't looking at amps. I happened by the Trickfish booth when someone was checking it out and listened for a few minutes. I saw/heard the Genzler because I wanted to introduce myself to Jeff Genzler and heard the Bergantino at one of the bass builder's booths (I forget which one). It seemed to me that the majority of the bass builders booths were using Aguilar's to show off their instruments. I did walk by a few of the other amp booths, mostly to see the basses they were using to demo the amps, so I didn't pay attention to the amps themselves.

I ssaw Wayne Krantz not that long ago at Yoshi's Oakland. Multi instrumentalist Nate Wood was on bass, playing through a Trickfish. Sounded fine from the other side of the stage. I read a review in Bass Player Magazine by Jon Herrera, who raved about it. When I came out of the show, Jon was in the lobby, with some of his other MoeTar bandmates. Jon has a Trickfish himself. Too pricey for me to think about, in any case. A number of bright blue LEDS as well.

I've played bass for over 20 years and am stunned at how clear and loud it is! Worth every penny. Richard Ruse (trickfish founder) worked for alesis, swr, line 6, krk, and jbl. He worked with mike pope and a few other brilliant minds on the design... They're releasing a 4x8, at NAMM '18 that sounds incredible

The 4x8 did sound great. I spent some time playing through it with all tone controls set "flat" and I really dug it. Later on, we tried some rather extreme EQ, and these cabs were VERY forgiving. They held up well even when we cranked the bass all the way up on the Bullhead. Impressive! The new Trilobite pedal is also very cool, and a major bargain at their price (under $600).

It really is fantastic gear... I was actually at namm via trickfish... I was the guy with long hair and tattoo's hanging out... I wasn't there all the time... I mainly loaned them my bass
